Looking for 23" 1080P IPS for gaming

Hey guys

After deciding that I was gonna hold off on 1440P/120Hz monitors until they become more readily available/cheaper, I'm in the market for 2 23" 1080P IPS monitors that will later go on either side of the 1440P I will buy in the future.

These would be mainly used for general use and gaming.

What would you guys suggest? I've been looking at the Dell U2312HM among others, but I've heard some very contradictory opinions about it.

Thanks in advance

u should check the Asus PA238Q

Yup i had that ASUS for about a week, going down from 24" to 23" was noticeable or me (which was surprising) - i actually had 3 of those monitors in Eyefinity and the stand was awesome for rotating

But i felt that 23" was too small, and was looking to upgrade to something bigger - and thats what got me into the Korean 27" IPS panel craze - ordered a Crossover LED-P, and now a 120hz monitor is on the way

But the Asus was a good monitor

Couple things about that monitor though

1- there was a small amount of light bleed along the bottom of each of the 3 monitors (i think its a thing) which you cant tell while in general use, but if our OCD about that kind of stuff

2- ASUS monitors have pretty agressive Anti Glare coating, all i've ever owned were Asus monitors but once i switched to the glossy koreans, the difference is really noticable (but i does keep the glare out)

The Asus ProArt listed above is fine. The Dell is an excellent monitor as well, particularly for gaming (amazingly low input lag, one of the best monitors of any size & panel type for this purpose). Generally cheaper than competiting 23" IPS monitors, and is actually one of the best gaming monitors in terms of response, etc. Both monitors are actually made from the same panel, so there's not a ton of differences there.

Really the only downside to the Dell (also a down side to the Asus) is the anti-glare coating. If you plan on getting a glossy center monitor, it might be weird to have matte on the sides?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep them coming. smile.gif

23 vs 24 inch is not really a big deal for me, my current 23 inch is perfectly fine as far as the size goes, it seems to be the preferable size for gaming on 1080p anyway.

As far as AG-coating is concerned, I actually prefer it to glossy screens considering the lighting conditions at my desk. I also don't think it would be weird if I were to add a no-AG monitor in the middle since I only ever game on one monitor, the other display(s) are just for movies and stuff.

Considering the Asus and Dell monitors are really similar and I can get the Dell at 180 EUR (236 USD) and the Asus for about 240 EUR (314 USD) I think that settles that.

Yeah, I'm looking to buy it locally here in Belgium though. wink.gif

Not a fan of having electronics shipped halfway around the world; there's a chance they won't survive the trip and RMA becomes such a hassle.

That's a good price on the Dell. We pay about the same here, and our taxes for online purchases are non-existent. Enjoy thumb.gif
