Top slot is PCIe x1 too. I have an extra USB3 card in mine.

Also, as long as your videocard is not triple width, the other PCIe x1 slot should be usable. And then you still have the x16 open at bottom (not sure if populating that will lower link speeds though).

With the new BIOS 1.60, my RAM fails MEMTEST after just a few minutes, where as with the 1.42K, it was stable for over 2 hours. (several tests)

Same timings, same voltage. 8-9-9-20-1T, instead of the stock 9-9-9-24-2T. Voltage remains on AUTO.

have you checked both bios with a dmm to see if it's same voltage? Actual voltage is about .03v higher than what is set in bios for me. I'm using 1.42g. Maybe the new bios is more accurate and thus failing? Just throwing out ideas, not even sure if it's possible.

Decided to keep the board and up/sidegrade my system. One thing I miss about my old board is looking into my case and seeing the different mobo leds on. Is there any way to keep the mobo leds on after boot?

i figured it out, turned out to be a PPL voltage issue. needed to bump it up a bit.

It's weird. Some people's boards have it staying on, some not. Mine stay on, except for the PLUS button LED, it seems to be faulty, but i prefer them off, so i put the "Good night led" on ENABLED

try putting the 'Good Night LED" option on DISABLED. It's in the "South Bridge" section.

Thanks, disabling good night led did the trick. This board def doesn't light up as much as my old board, guess I'll have to install a bulb in my case.

Should work there are 3xPCIE e.o slots
There is only 1 PCIE 1x but its under the 1st PCIE3 socket which i just checked so dual GPU you can't fit a soundcard...
PCI 1x is the top socket. SO sound card has to be on top of 1st GPU.

Thanks guys. That's what I'm worried about. I was planning on going with the MSI Mpower but I found out Ivy only has 16 lanes so when running 2 GPUs and a Revo I would be running at x8/x4 for the GPU and x4 for the Revo. I think this Asrock board has an additional controller because it uses a PCIe2.0 slot on the bottom instead of the PCIe3.0 that the MSI uses, hopefully someone that knows the board can comment.

.07v seems like a lot. Vcore is also a little higher than what i set in bios, but it's less than my vdimm. As for Nick, I don't know. Must be busy I assume. It's nice enough to have a rep here on the forums to help out when he can. I wouldn't expect him to be around all the time, not that i'm saying that you expect that.
