It seems that I can't rely on software to report accurate v-core which probably explains why I can suddenly get it stable with less voltage. 4.8GHz posed the biggest problem and that's what I'll be tweaking next.

Just connected the DMM and found that the board is reporting an average of 0.019 more voltage than the actual amount

And the DMM shows the voltage is pretty steady whereas software like CPU-Z has it jumping all over the place. I don't feel too bad about it now.

Also I have been getting this PSC led lit up whenever I boot up without going through BIOS. I've read through the whole thread, people have been facing this problem but there wasn't any solutions to it. It is the boot dev led if I'm not mistaken, not sure what it means either with the lack of documentations.

anyone knows the solution to this?

What code are you getting with Dr. Debug?

No code with Dr.Debug just this "boot dev led" lights up, everything else is stable just not sure whats wrong with it frown.gif
It just requires one to enter bios prior to starting the PC for it to go off.

Question for the experts:

I've been using the Asrock overclocking guide to help me towards my goal of 4.7-4.8gHz, but I've hit a snag. I can't get past 4.5 without my temps getting crazy high, I need 1.30vcore just to hit 4.5ghz, and I can't get it stable at 1.33vcore for 4.6gHz and at that point I'm hitting 90°C in Prime95, using NH-D14 heatsink and excellent airflow in my case. I keep getting various bccodes, never seems to be the same one twice, although they seem mostly memory related. I've read that with Ivy Bridge heat is more of an obstacle to getting good overclocks than sufficient voltages, but for me delidding is not an option.

So here's the question: before I invest in XSPC RS360 kit, is there any way to tell if heat is really the problem? I don't wanna spend a crapload of time and money trying to get to an OC that my chip just can't do. It just seems like my chip runs hotter and needs more vcore than a lot of you guys' chips.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks guys. smile.gif

@below20hz
just from my experience, in my case likewise i was trying to get 4.7-4.8 but i was stuck at 4.6 with 90deg p95. Changing to custom waterkit, mine was rx360 didn't help a whole lot (maybe 5 deg or less difference). However I tried delidding and boom, 20 deg drop instant. So personally I wouldn't recommend getting kit unless you are delidding

Can you do the Nick Profile from the Windows?

I can only do it from BIOS.

I notice if I do the profile, everything reset like my Wake up by Timer thing and the XMP Profile also.

Dude...you have to stop with the multiple posts. Edit your first post if you have more to add
