Hey, new issue.
I bought some new RAM sticks and am having problems. Sent a Q to Asrock support, but perhaps you guys could help me as well.
My Q as submitted to Asrock:
With BIOS 2.00 any settings I tried to apply to memory wouldn't actually apply. What ever I selected in BIOS in OS it would be 1600MHz mem.
After flashing to 2.30 this problem went away. It says BIOS 2.20 fixed issues with GEIL PC317000.
My kit is GEIL BlackDragon 2*4GB kit.
BIOS reads XMP as it should stating all the propper timings. SPD is also read correctly. But when I select loading XMP profile or manually select 2133MHz, machine fails to boot automatically and continuously restarting on DrDebug code 23. If I choose any other frequency (even 2400) it loads to windows. I tried setting timings manually as well as using DRAM timing compatibility mode but it seems system tries to boot with 11-11-11-28-CR1 regardless of my settings. I believe problem is in CR1. When I force the system to lower timings (to CR2 among other things) by selecting 2400MHz it loads OS no problem. After that I go into BIOS and set it to 2133MHz with SPD timings (10-11-11-30-2) and it works like it should. Memory passes MEMTEST with no errors, everything is fine.
But if I completely shut down the machine, problem starts all over again and I have to clear CMOS, set memory to 2400, go into BIOS again and dial it back to 2133.
I would leave it at 2400 to avoid problem, but it is not stable in MEMTEST.
What to do to prevent BIOS to reverting to 11-11-11-28-1 on 2133 on initial boot? Setting timings manually does not help because it seems BIOS never reaches the point when it would apply it after cold boot.
