Was it a good choice to go from AS5 to Mx-4 for my cpu and video card? thumb.gif

Both are good TIMS but I prefer MX-4 over AS5. Good choice thumb.gif
I don't think either will give temperatures that differ by more than a degree or two, as the mount is likely more significant.

Yeah, good move. AS5 is still a good compound, but it is starting to show its age. The variety of TIMs available now is astounding, ranging from the metal types like Indigo Extreme and Liquid Metal Pro/Ultra to diamond powder based pastes to highly refined "regular" pastes...
I personally think that Prolimatech PK1 is an excellent and incredibly versatile TIM, but Phobya HEGrease, MX2/4, TX4, and others are all so fantastic that the industry is almost at the "wall" where they will no longer be able to make any real improvements in regular TIMs. I think that we will be seeing a huge increase in the number of "liquid metal" and diamond based pastes, which is the only way to really continue to get consistent temp drops.

MX-4 has currently the best price/performance ratio while being a good and easy-to-apply thermal paste. thumb.gif

Pretty similar to the Noctua NT-H1 but cheaper.

PK1 is currently the top non-ETI TIM.

ETI is a type of metal flowed TIM, ie. in non-flowed state it is metal, but once heated it melts.
