I dont know anything about hard drives but have been looking into buying a new one. I'm deciding between these two.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148140
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136010
All I know is that one is bigger than the other but what's the difference between the two other than size?

The sata 3gb's would be better sata 1 runs at 150mb/s my sata2 drives run at about 170-190mb/s So the sata 2 will be faster.

One is SATA I and the other one is SATA II. It depend on your mobo if it support SATA II or I.

The Seagate has a bit newer technology (the perpindicular whatever), but other than that it's a brand toss-up.

You will never notice the difference between SATA150 and 3.0Gb/s...or you might? Idk.

Edited...

You will notice peaks when moving small files such as word documents and pictures on a single drive but in raid it should be very fast

I think that is not true. That is just a common misconception. Refer to this.
I think the only difference is the SATA2 cables have a 90º locking mechanism.

BTW, you can get the 250GB version of the Seagate Barrucuda w/ PP recording for the same price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148144

Well i've used HDtach to test my WD2500 sata2 and another WD2500 sata1 drive and the sata 2 was (in benches) noticeably faster.

That is just saying what the difference between the cables is. SATA II drives are faster than SATA I drives. Even if the mobo doesn't support SATA II it should be able to run the SATA II drive at SATA I speeds (don't quote me on that) I would get the SATA II because when you upgrade to a computer that does support SATA II the drive will be faster

The Seagate does the best in benchmarks. If you get it, make sure to remove the SATA 150 jumper so it runs at full SATA 3.0 speed
