Howdy,

I have searched the different OCN forums and although there are many "modding logs" and build logs here, I have not yet found many build logs and MODs done to the newer CORSAIR case ---the 300R.

I recently purchased this case and transplanted my 8 month old PC build into it and have instantly loved it. It has a very industrial and simple streamlined look that since day one has made me think it would be a great high quality case for some seriously cool MODS and powerful machine builds.

This thread is for fellow owners and fans to post pictures of their builds, mods, and possible ideas (either completed, in progress, or for the future) of their machines in the 300R chasis. The purpose is to help build the log of possibilities of this case so that other potential users and current users can gain more options for the use of the 300R.

*note: this thread is not meant to be a copy of or duplication of other threads that are open to discussion and posts about the 300R, but simply a more concentrated location for people to not have to sift through countless pages of possibly other discussions and pics of other chasis that they aren't seeking ideas for.

I encourage you to visit the following links and post in the other 300R related threads as any contributions to any arena is always a positive contribution to the OCN community smile.gif

I havent't gotten to do any MODs to my 300R case yet, but here are some of the ideas I have for the future (money permitting as I am in college currently):

1. Watercooling-- I would likely use 2x alphacool single 120mm monsta 80 mm thick radiators
One in the front, one on the rear exhaust along with an alphacool cpu block a bay or cylinder res. with a swiftech 655b pump. I like green and blue as colors so either one may be used in the color scheme

2. Vinyl wrapping the case exterior and parts of the interior
3. Replace my window that has fan grills in it with a solid smoked acrylic window
4. Create a shroud from black plexi wrapped in vinyl for the power supply and part of the res. (if a cylinder and the pump)
5. Add some black mnpctech handles to the top for easier portability (i travel home a decent bit, and the machine has to come with me of course wink.gif

***I'm a big fan of the c70 case as well as the 300R. I agree some of the above mention mods may be easier in that case, I like the smaller form factor, exteriro look, and price point of the 300R better for now so that is the case I'm looking forward to complete these MODS on smile.gif

So here are some pictures of my build in the 300R as it currently sits:

Hi. Subbed. Nice to have 300R-only thread. In near future, I will start with sort of "retrofit" build in 300R, actually, all components are ready, only the case needs to be delivered smile.gif

Howdy, 300r here. Love the case. Great cooling, though I am running an additional 5 fans. Only mod I'm planning is to somehow shoehorn a Corsair H100 cooler in the top fan mounts with as little modification as possible. I think I have enough room with my mobo. I am going to have to move my DVD drive down a bay. Doing it this weekend. Will post results.

Good to have you on the thread! Sounds like that'd be doable to fit the H100. One thing though if you dont mind the look of it.....

depending on if you have all the fans and other things for your mod yet, something I've considered was mounting the h100 to my case roof using the obvious 120 mm fan holes on the rad, then mount some high cfm and good static pressure 140mmm fans on the roof outside and push air down into the case through the rad and use the front as exhausts ( maybe the new corsair 140 fans, I just like the way they look lol). And then I would use that koolance fan shroud in the pic to put on top of the case to make it look good and hide the fans. I think that fan shroud would fit the industrial look but would maybe change the overall lines of the case.

Just an idea I've contemplated and thought Id share. Either way looking forward to your rig update and mod thumb.gif

just randomly stumbled on this thread. i just recently built my pc with this case about a month ago. still tweaking everything and have to organize the wires a little on the inside. nice thing about having the version without the window is i cant see the mess of wires even though they are nicely stored out of the way of my airflow i know i would get annoyed if i could see them.

also in the process of figuring out my fan situation and whether i want to replace the stock case fans and the stock fan on my 212 EVO for the corsair SP120 quiet editions. mainly the fan on my heatsink is the loudest part of my case but im sure having a rear exhaust that moves more air out of my case can only help over the stock one that feels like it doesnt do much in the way of being an exhaust.

will take better pics one day when im happier with everything. im glad im not obsessive about the colors of cables and stuff otherwise id go broke making everything color coordinated and sleeving the cables and stuff.

Nice build.
I figured that you improved your case adding two internal extra fans at the middle and bottom disk drive cages.
Are both 140mm fans?
Interesting, LOL.

Well, I never thought about doing this before on my 300R.
So maybe I must try to add this extra fans for better cooling, especially for my GPU.

got some new fans. SP120 quiet for heatsink and a AF120 quiet for the rear exhaust. not sure what to do with the stock rear case exhaust. but replacing the stock 212EVO fan has made my computer considerably quieter and was well worth the sacrifice of 2degrees warmer on average because the new fans are slower and move less air compared to the stock 212 fan that was pushing like 60something CFM at 35dBA

the AF120 feels like it exhausts more heat than the stock case exhaust although not a drastic improvement but i can feel air back there compared to the stock fan that barely felt like it did anything at all.
