Noctua NH-D14
Phanteks PH-TC14PE
Thermalright Silver Arrow (or Silver Arrow-SBE)

Current kings of air cooling, all of them perform very, very close to each other. Silver Arrow being the best, marginally. With upgraded fans, they are all fairly the same.

I just switched from a Silver Arrow to a NH-D14 and have noticed no difference in temps or noise at this stage. Both great coolers thumb.gif

of all the crazy coolers i have tried i moved back to the 212+ because of the price. sure its not as good as the D14 but when it cost 1/4 the price and is only a few degrees less it works for me. if i am going to spend that much money on cooling a rig i will just get a rasa kit.

of all the ones you listed the D14 is by far the best.

Very true... except the "few degrees" . And even that is true if you are not throwing a lot of heat at them. The cooler pack leaders show their real colors when CPU is pushed to the max. Then the pack leader will show a much greater than a "few degrees" better performance.

Now I take issue.
ATM Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme is probably the best.
Both Phanteks and Silver Arrow SB-E are hot on it's tail.
And both Phanteks and SA SB-E are 1-2c better than D14.
Really not much at all, but D14 is not the best!

Alpenfohn K2 aka Assassin
Noctua D14
Silver Arrow
SA-SB-E
Phanteks
and quite a few more all perform within a couple of degrees of each other.

Had a silver arrow for months! Temps at 4Ghz 1.46V and NB @ 2.8Ghz 1.35V it had the CPU at 47C, i was amazed.

Sorry.

There are 2 posts in this thread listing coolers.

The most recent before your post is the one quoted here.

I assumed as you did not quote post you were responding to that it wa the most recent.

You are absolutely correct about D14 being best in reference to OP's list. thumb.gif
