Aren't these the same?

The 2GB HZ and 2GB ZX seem to be pretty much the same spec.

Both 2GB dual channel kits, running 4-4-4-12 timings.

The HZ shows 2.2~2.4v whereas the ZX shows 2.2v. Doesn't that make the ZX better if it runs lower/same voltage for those timings and speed? (both sets are PC6400)

The HZ is £220, the ZX £180. Also the ZX is more readily available.

Which would i be better with? Is the HZ more because it OCs better?

NOTE: I know i already have some G.Skill HZ, but i'm planning on going C2D
NOTE: When i move to C2D i will likely sell my DDR PC4000 HZ, seeing as its very popular RAM, and G.Skill have stopped making it, or so i've been told.

EDIT: Just been looking at other brands...

Corsair's 2GB XMS2 Dominator PC2-6400C4 TwinX RAM also looks very good, and also has those cool heatspreaders. There is also active cooling available designed to fit this RAM, so thats kinda cool as well. (£17 for the fan doodad)

Corsair's 2GB XMS2 PC2-6400C4 TwinX is the same as far as i can tell, but has different heatspreaders and is slightly cheaper. There is likely more to it than that though, like voltages, or different ICs.

G.Skill is better than Corsair IMO. Except for the more expensive Dominator but stll, G.Skill is less expensive and good.

This is the kit I'd recommend: http://www.chillblast.com/product.ph...cat=198&page=1

Micron D9s and capable of 1000mhz on pure air.

So basically, HZ is still king, purely because it OCs like a beast.

Awesome

My plan is to save another week or so of my wages then get a P5B dlx and HZ. I can use my P4 in that board while i save for a C2D.

Although i'll probbly just wait a bit longer and buy it all at the same time all in one go.

i know that when i install a new motherboard i will need to do a fresh install of windows, due to drivers etc. i currently have an OEM copy of windows im using on my current rig. Would i be able to use that copy with a new mobo, or would i have to buy a new copy?

I'e heard that OEM versions are somehow tied to the hardware =/

I can get another OEM copy of windows xp home from chillblast or oc.co.uk for about £60~

EDIT: My planned build is pretty much that same as your rig Nasgul!

P5B Deluxe
G.Skill PC6400 2GB HZ
C2D E6600

Although i'll be using my TT BT, 7900GT and Enermax PSU. Should still be a beast of a pc

Now just to save some more £££!

EDIT2: Just noticed... you linked me to DDR RAM. I don't think that'd work to well in a P5B Deluxe, lol. And also, i already have that RAM ^^. I'm looking for RAM for a planned upgrade to C2D.

I'm guessing in your post you were refering to the DDR2 PC2-6400 G.Skill 2GB HZ, so i'll let you off

I am using an OEM version of windows xp from a gatway from 2002 which is working fine on my p5b/e6600 combo without problems so you should be able to do the same I would think.

as far as doing a fresh install of windows I don't even think you would have to do taht as I have also swapped that hard drive from that computer into my computer and it worked after some fuss saying some hardware was not installed on this computer though is on the other. still worked fine though.
