Currently using 12.11b, very happy with them and would like to continue using them if possible since this is the only game I play a lot that requires physx...
Thx
The AMD drivers don't have any effect on it so use the latest ones. As for the 580, use the last driver version that lists performance improvements for that card in the changelog. It might end up being the newest one.

I'm guessing you're not using the hybridiz method, instead are using GenL's Physx mod?
Do you have your 6850 installed in the top slot of your MB?
Does your bios have a Primary GPU setting where you can configure PCI-ex1 or PCI-ex 2?
I assume only the HD 6850 is hooked up to both your monitors, you dont use a cable from the 9800GT going to the second monitor, do you?
Are you using the Nvidia Control Pannel? (I dont use it since I use hybidiz method, so I only use the Nvida Driver.)
In Nvidia Control Pannel under Manage 3D settings on the Program settings tab do you see a place that says "Select the prefrerred graphics processor for this progam:" If so, you can set a prefered GPU for each program here.
Im thinking If you plugged the 2nd monitor into the 9800GT, that card should drive that monitor, and the 6850 should drive the main monitor.
One quick and dirty way might be to disable the GPU in the hadware profile.
Let me know your setup and hope this might help . . .
I am using the hybridz method.
I have the 6850 installed on the top slot.
My Bios does not have that setting.
The 6850 is used for both monitors.
Nvidia Controlled Panel won't open; Windows says NVIDIA Control Panel Application, 4.8.750.0 has stopped working.

The 9800GT should work fine for PhysX if only BL2 would have been programmed in a way that allowed for the hybrid physX solution to work out, but aparently it does not at 100%.
You have no use for 2 vid cards when showing videos with GPU accelleration. The very few media players that actually use a good implementation of GPU accelleration does not use both GPU's, so you still only use one GPU at a time (Given you're running Nvidia + Radeon).
2 vid cards for Minecraft is also totally worthless. To be able to really utilize 2 GPU's in minecraft I'm sure you would have to run a SLI/Xfire-solution and a resolution of 8.640p or something. Also... You do know Minecraft does not use PhysX right?!
I would recommend that you read through the whole thread regarding getting this to work and even if you do. You won't get 100% satisfactory solution... Unfortunately!!
It was amazing using the 6850 and 9800 Gt Smart**s. You also didn't hear what I was talking about. I was saying those applications were using my weaker video card. Btw no application will now use my 9800 gt. I do know Minecraft does not use physx the whole point of buying the 9800 gt was to use it for physx with borderlands 2 until I stopped playing it a lot and would then give it to a family member. I have read the whole thread. Please don't be a rude troll.

Hi again,

It's strange that everything that does not quallify as a suitable answer nowadays is rapidly categorized as trolling, but I really didn't mean to be rude and I really didn't mean to troll. I'm sorry if I came out like that!
If you check my earlier posts I hope you understand that I'm not here to be one or do the other! wink.gif

When we have that out of the way...

I still don't get one thing... If you have both your monitors hooked up to your 6850. How come you're saying that the applications were using the weaker graphics card? If you have the monitors hooked up to the 6850, the applications are using the 6850. Not the 9800 GT. Only if you do the hacks and moving around the physx-files like described earlier in the thread you can get use for the weaker card at the same time. In Borderlands 2 though... Don't expect it to work wonders. It doesn't!! thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

By the way... I have he same problem with the Nvidia Control Panel. Won't open and I can't find a solution sad-smiley-002.gif
Please do share if you find one!

hiccuping and stuttering is usually because your primary gpu is rendering faster and thus waiting for input from your physx gpu. you can reduce or remove this stuttering by limiting the frame rate to 50 in the options. I have a good write up I think on hybrid physx herehttp://www.overclock.net/t/1324465/my-experiences-with-hybrid-physx. it's important to understand that physx is demanding regardless of your hardware and BL2 really pushes those limits.

Its cool.
I don't understand it I just have 2 instances of gpu-z on my second monitor one monitoring 6850 and the other monitoring 9800 gt. It showed load in the 9800 gt. I uninstalled the vid card fixed the ram timings and reinstalled the card and now borderlands 2 has this weird crash before it starts after I click the play button. I switched from hybriz to the old one. I think ill verify game cache and the install newer physx.

it's because you can't used the nvidia control panel in a hybrid setup. you should just disable it as well as the nvidia update within the windows services mmc.

oh and for those of you who care, hybrid physx works in the hawken open beta. they're still doing a lot of physx optimizations right now but, it's nice to see that it works.

Just got it working on my system, using 7970 for primary and a GTX 450 for Physx, show up to 30% load on the 450 with Physx set to high. REALLY nice because it takes the heat off of my FX 8150 which was causing a lot of slowdowns with the game trying to run Physx on the CPU.
