Borderlands 2 with Hybrid PhysX - Page 8

Rickles, I'm definitely benefitting - I love eye candy, and I checked with fraps and with v-sync on I'm getting either 30 or 60FPS all the time. the 8800 ultra has no trouble with this.

Im looking for a solution to fix my issue with my 5770/GTS 450 setup.

I cannot get Hybrid 1.05ff nor the new Hybridiz patch (which i think is total bs)
to work with Borderlands 2, Fuildmark 1.4 or hawken alpha 2, none of these apps are showing any load on my GTS 450 under Msi afterburner, and i want to know if anyone one could enlighten to me to why? im really starting to think this whole thing is just a bunch of rumored bs.

Thanks to whom ever responds smile.gif

(I have been doing research, and i think the cause might be cause of my CCC version is 12.8. its said to be working with 11.12, So im going to try that.)

for those interested..

I'm using a GT 620 (~50$ on newegg) for hybrid Physx and performance is significantly better. However, I still drop down into the sub 30fps range using high physx in the caustic caverns when I have like 3 or more of those crystalic creatures around me and I'm using a elemental weapon, but no lower than 26fps. Anywhere else I get ~80-90fps. I think this might be due to the card only being 64bit vs 128bit or maybe optimizations, though I'm not really sure. I think I'll swap it out for the GT 630 cause I'm just interested if there is a difference in memory bit depth..

Running fluidmark nets me a score of 2833 with 30K particles running at 47fps@720; score of 1432 with 60K particles running at 24fps@1080. Comparatively using CPU physx I get; score of 1877 with 30K particles running at 31fps@720 and a score of 1115 with 60K particles running at 19fps@1080. 1080 must be tough to render regardless.

Lowering the particle count makes a pretty big difference. Its cool to see the load on both cards while performing the test. 85% of the load is on the nvidia card. Some comparative test show that a GTX 570 only gets about 2fps higher than this little guy does at the same resolution, 1080. Which is funny cause its a 250$+ card. But I guess its also rendering the scene, but still.. I'd expect it to be higher. Naturally, the GTX 680 is hitting 91fps@1080 with 60K particles in SLI.. Heh.

Oh and my main GPU is a 7870 for those who care.

All in all its kinda neat. Yay for science! thumb.gif

Hey guys currently I have the MSI amd radeon 7950 twinfrozr card and was curious if you can run physx with just this card installed? I have a spare 9800 laying around but haven't gotten around to installing it. I did the willow ini fix thing and blands2 physx works for a minute but then crashes to desktop or sometimes even reboots my machine. What do you guys suggest? Thanks for any help offered

Ugh, I've been working at this for about 1.5 hours, and I still can't get it to work with my NVS 290.

Edit: I got it to work during my lunch break, aaand my CPU does a better job than what amounts to a 8500GT. Oh well, at least I got it to work. What I did was

1. Use the latest drivers and Physx from nVidia's website
2. Patched it with 1.05ff, used Hybridize, and ran the .cmd file included.
3. Edited the Config file as needed.
4. Moved all the Physx files except PhysxExtensions and PhysxLoader. It would not run unless PhysxLoader was there.

That said, when I kept the PhysxCore file in there, the gpu didn't take the load, but cpu did, and ran the physx much better.

So, I can somewhat confirm that Quadro cards do work with Physx and they do work in hybrid mode, and they do work in BL2 for Physx purposes. I can confirm that the NVS 290 shouldn't be used for PhysX, and should only be used for adding extra monitors with only a slight need for GPU acceleration. tongue.gif
