Borderlands 2 with Hybrid PhysX - Page 9

Yes it does work with 79xx , thumb.gif
bump still cant get 640 to work....

Tried all the drivers but 304 because it says I dont have the correct hardware, tried 12.4-12.8, GPU-Z is the only thing that says I have physx and every game I try to run after I move the physx files says "physx is out of date"

I've discovered that games that require the PhysXCore.dll need to be on a particular version in order for that to work. The file version, not the version of PSS that is installed.

So my previous post i mentioned following this method I was able to get a hybrid setup between a 7870 and a GT 620 working with Borderlands 2. Thats only using hybridize.exe and using the latest and greatest nvidia drivers. So my versions are this

PhysX System Software: 9.12.0604
nVidia Driver version: 306.23
ATI catalyst driver version: 8.961 <- maybe out of date, but i dont really care honestly.

Now, Borderlands 2 worked by just removing everything but the PhysXExtensions.dll. However, Batman AC would always bluescreen and reboot my machine whenever i enabled physx and left the two necessary files in place - PhysXCore.dll and PhysXExtensions.dll.

I installed Alice as another way to test (and enjoy) physx working. Did the same process as Batman AC and ran the game. Low and behold it worked and I could see physx GPU activity while in game.

So this got me interested in the PhysXCore.dll file. Inspecting the Batman AC PhysXCore.dll i noticed its version its version is 2.8.4.6.

Inspecting the Alice Madness Returns PhysXCore.dll file its version is 2.8.4.4.

All PhysXExtensions.dll versions are 2.8.4.1.

So I copied the PhysXCore.dll from Alice and put it in Batman AC's folder, executed the program and viola! no bluescreen and GPU accelerated physx.

I would imagine this method would work with any requires both files for GPU accelerated physx.

MinisterKermy did you use

This?

Or This?

And you didnt get an error from borderlands saying physx is out of date?

the latter, hybridiz.exe, from P10-17000.. guess i spelled it wrong.. I never used GenL's mod, 1.05ff.

No, no error, ever, from anything about a physx version.

These physx files are packaged with each game, so honestly I dont understand the relation between installing the PhysX software vs not. I was under the assumption that the software package is what allows you to calculate CPU based Physx...

I could be wrong..

course, it could be its working so well for me because i haven't really screwed around with drivers at all. i literally took the 620 outta the box, installed the latest drivers and physX, ran hybridiz.exe and moved all the files outta borderlands 2 directory that i needed too and it all just worked.

i assume you ran the hybridiz.exe as admin correct?
Yep ran it as admin, my physx gpu is being used but not on games or benchmarks.... It randomly decides to use so only problem im having i think is if i move files I get a lame error lol

EVERYONE needs the physx software package to run physx - You only need the hack to do AMD GPU + NV GPU physx. anyone can do AMD + CPU physx, the question is do you have enough CPU?

Hi Guys , I have been using this thread for a few days trying to get my hybrid physx working using a AMD6970 & a GTX285 , the post below was what got it running with the latest ATI & Nvidia drivers. (THANKS!!) (please note I DID NOT reinstall drivers, or do anything other than this and that was after I tried both 1.05ff mod & hybridize multiple times and various tests with no success.)

Errors during testing ranged from missing files, to physx out of date and the rather annoying no load on the Nvidia GPU, I folllowed the above intructions TO THE LETTER and now it works fine with no issues. (I didnt install anything accept the mods while following that guide as I already had the drivers & physx installed.)

Also i noticed that there is in fact a difference running physx from GPU & CPU, the game\ drivers automaticaly remove certain effects when running on CPU regardless of how powerful it is or how well it runs, to get full effects the physx MUST be ran from a gpu, this was very noticable via testing as I can actually run the game with physx up full with no GPU & get much the same performance I do using the Nvidia card, it does however look much better using the nvidia card. (shoot stuff with elemental weapons in both setups and you'll quickly spot the difference, also note the difference in movement of cloth, its far more detailed using the GPU)

Anyway, hope that helps, I played several hour so far using the hybird set up & have not had any issues so far.

Also, in case you aren't getting GPU load do the following:
Open this in new browser tab:
http://www.ngohq.com/graphic-cards/22136-how-to-fix-hybrid-physx-with-latest-physx-and-geforce-285-solved.html
Just get the newest Physx from http://nvidia.com/object/physx_system_software.html and then the hybridize program from the above also.
Install PhysX System Software, then Hybrid mod 1.05ff, then ran Hybridize, then ran the PhysX-HwSelection-set-GPU.cmd file as admin (important).
Then go into your G:\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32 folder and move all the PhysX_____.dll files except for PhysXExtensions.dll to somewhere else.
Now when you run BL2 you should see load on the PhysX GPU.
