Need help with a Phobya 200mm

Thread Starter
So I'm about to order a Phobya Xtreme 200mm for the front intake of my 600T. Now my question is am I better off with which of the following options:

2 x Bitfenix Spectre Pro 230mm (900 rpm, 1.81mm/h2o, 26 db) using my 2 stock Corsair 200mm fans to make shrouds for each

-or-

2 x 180mm Fans (Probable the Silverstone AP121 1200 rpm, 2.45mm/h20, 34 db) and 2 Phobya 180mm fan shrouds

I have just enough room for either. Note, the 230mm Spectre Pro uses 200mm mounts (Or at least that's what I've seen)

You'll actually probably want to do 1 of each. I bought this rad a few months ago and didn't realize that it comes with 2 separate adapter plates. 1 plate will fit 180mm fans and the other will fit 240, 220 and 210mm fans. From the specs sheet listed here it looks like the hole spacing on the rad itself is 185mm.

But if you're willing to do a little modding I'd imagine that you could tap the adapter plates to fit any sized fan you want. In that case, I'd opt for the silverstones because they have a higher static pressure.

I also have the 200mm. Mithrandir8 hit the nail on the head.

As a heads up also all the screw holes on the adapter plates are for M3 screws.

Ok, well in that case any suggestions on fan placement?

Maybe this: Spectre Pro 230 mm > Shroud > Radiator > 180mm Phobya Shroud > AP121? Or do I want the higher power fan (AP121) as the pushing fan and the Spectre as the pull?

Setup will be intake by the way.

Moto is it on a Phobya 200mm? If so how was it mounting them? Seems the mounting points on the Phobya are rather unusual.

You want fans with higher static pressure and rpm in push and lower-speed fans in pull. But if you wanted to put the larger fan in push for aesthetic reasons the performance drop would be minimal, so you really could choose either option.

Hmm to be honest I am a little vain. Suppose I'll likely sacrifice a bit of performance for the 230mm red led fan in front. I mean I do have a 200mm rad and 360mm rad just for a 7970 and 3570k.

Yeah, there's no way you'd notice a difference in temps with that much rad space. And half the beauty of watercooling is in the aesthetics, so I'd say go for it thumb.gif
