I'm not concerned much with TC, I just want to get what I can out of what I have/can afford. I would not fold the CPU at the same time unless I could spring for a 6/8C, and dedicate say 2 cores to GPU management. I don't have that much extra money though. If I remember from when I had my last GTS 450 folding, it was around 8-10k PPD, I don't know if it has changed since then. Its power usage was pretty low and it was cool and quiet as well, thats why I chose them in particular.

It would be interesting to know how well 4 cards would fold.I read in some old threads about 9800 gtx GPU'S 4 at a time but 4 450's I bet it would be around 40k PPD.

I guess it can't hurt to try, right? I can always split them into 2 machines if they don't cooperate in one. biggrin.gif

Okay guys I need more help. This isn't about folding though haha. I'd like to turn my rig into a 24/7 folder. The first thing I need to do that though is a way to turn off my LED fans. I can't have them lighting up my room at night. Can someone help me turn them off in a simple and cheap way? I don't have a soldering gun so this may be impossible... I don't care if its not professional I just want them off haha.

I think there is a wire you can simply snip, and the LED's then don't get power.

But how would I go about making a switch so I could turn them on and off all at once? I already have a switch for one light on my case, the top 200mm fan. Can I add more to the switch?

OK, for my Sig rig I was going to SLI then fold when I get the $$ for my folding rig, but an OCN member said instead of turning on SLI dedicate one GPU to fold. So until I get my folding rig, that's what I'm going to do. Need to fix Sig rig 1st though, it's in pieces lol

How much difference does a 24/7 folding rig make in the power bill? I've kinda always considered electronics insignificant to a power bill.

Before someone inevitably accuses me of it, no I have never paid a power bill. I'm 18, just moved into a dorm about a month and a half ago.

well for me, its about 900 watts full 100% load. so if i were to 24/7 it, i would be paying about $100 a month at 0.13 cents per kilowatt hour.
