Info: F@H and power loss

Power loss or anything that doesn’t allow your computer to properly shutdown will cause F@H to have problems.

If your like me and don't have a sufficient battery backup device and shutdown setup, there is something you need to know. Even though your system boots up fine on restart and F@H seems to look normal when you start it back up, it has a problem.

You will know by looking at the startup screen for F@H as it will say it was improperly shut down before the WU resumes. What you won't see are the assembly optimizations starting up (ie. Extra SSE boost OK). Without optimizations you will see your time per WU go up, taking longer to process.

What you need to do is let F@H run for a few minutes then properly shut it down. Wait for a few minutes then start F@H back up. You will be folding at full speed once again.
