Second monitor goes black windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

Thread Starter
Over the years Ive had many video cards and dual monitor setup. Radeon 4890/crossfire, radeon 6970 and now GTX 680, all which make my second monitor go black in fullscreen games such as Deus EX human rev, dirt 3 etc. Sometimes minimizing or alt + enter 5 times fixes it, but other times it doesn't. For some reason source games never do this but it's really annoying when I'm in game and cant see my gadgets and stuff. Any ideas?

Some games dont play nice when in "fullscreen mode." Try to change video setttings to Fullscreen (Windowed). That helped out for me on D3 which gave me the same issue.

Unfortunately not, I even have the same games which sometimes do and sometimes don't show the second monitor, sometimes alt-tabbing can bring it back. Disabling "Desktop Themes" and "Desktop Composition" (compatibility settings from the games .exe) sometimes works as well or at least seems to raise the chance a bit.

I *THINK* disabling desktop composition and desktop themes is disabling Aero (and maybe a bit more?). I can say it works most of the time.

it works half the time for me i have visual themes disabled for ALL games already. but that is true disabling visual is disabling aero. probably has to do with if the desktop icon points to a launcher or directly to the games exe...idk that one is a full guess
