So I recently changed my motherboard from an RIIIE to an RIIIBE and upon putting my entire computer together again, Windows is showing 8.00GB installed memory. I look at CPU and click on the Memory tab and this is what it says:

Type: DDR3
Size: 12288 MBytes
Channels #: Dual

Is CPUZ telling me I have 12GB of installed memory but Windows is only reading 8GB because for some reason it's in "dual" mode? I'm rather confused...I confirmed all connections are tight but haven't yet removed and replaced them.

Graphics card is a different story. I have the link installed and I pushed them in as far as I thought they could go without breaking the motherboard and both Windows and CPUZ is showing 1 card. They were working fine before.

EDIT: Figured out GPU issue. Apparently on the RIIIBE, there's a physical switch on the motherboard to enable or disable specific PCIe lanes. Is this normal...?

Could this be causing my RAM issue?

Please help! Every time I restart the computer shuts off 2-3 times and then comes up normally. The LED code on the motherboard is usually between 68-70.

Lol is this a joke? I'm really not understanding...

CPU-Z shows 12288MB under Memory and also shows that the proper slots are occupied with 4GB each...yet Windows and my BIOS are showing 4GB...what is going on?

I damaged the pins for my CPU on a 1156 board and had a similar issue. In my case, I had 8Gbs of memory (2 X 4 Gb sticks) but windows was only reading 4, well, 4 minus memory reserved for the graphics card. Only fix was a new MB.

I bought the motherboard used. I was told it had no problems.

I'm a little confused why CPU-Z shows 12GB and the BIOS not.
