Does Sony still repair broken PS2's?

Thread Starter
I noticed you can still buy new PlayStation 2 consoles on some websites and my local walmart has about 15 brand new consoles for $99 and i am considering getting one of them because they are so cheap. But this also brings to question one thing if it dies within the warranty period will Sony still honor the warranty? or did they discontinue repair?

I would assume if its 100% brand new factory sealed with a reciept they would have to honour the warranty, or give you a PS3? Didn't know any store still sold new last gen consoles.

I miss my old Ps2, but I wouldn't spend $99 on one...

Also, just noticed the last time I went to Dollarama, they sell $2 PS2 games... Never heard of most of the titles, but just funny to see...

I suppose that's true and my local walmart said it was the last they will ever get.
hmm i think $99 is worth it, but then again i also have over 50 PS2 games and don't want to spend $200+ on a current gen system, plus Resident Evil 4 is on PS2 wink.gif

If from Walmart, and its BNFS with reciept. I'd jump on that. Especially if I still had my old game collection, or even 10 or so of my fav's. Been trying to play on emulators but my system aint that good CPU wise.

When my fatty PS2 broke down under odd circumstances that Sony agreed to fix for some reason, they couldn't fix it, and no stock available, so they sent me a NIB slim with a new mem card and extra controller. Was pretty sweet deal about a year or 2 out of warranty. Maybe if it goes south you'll get a PS3 tongue.gif

Though I'm sure it won't have issues. Mine chugged for many years till the network adapter somehow fried it (???) and then the slim lasted a long time, think my cousin still uses it a lot... They are champs.

Just don't play many DVD's on them, it always stresses the lasers into early death...
