I noticed you can still buy new PlayStation 2 consoles on some websites and my local walmart has about 15 brand new consoles for $99 and i am considering getting one of them because they are so cheap. But this also brings to question one thing if it dies within the warranty period will Sony still honor the warranty? or did they discontinue repair?

I would assume if its 100% brand new factory sealed with a reciept they would have to honour the warranty, or give you a PS3? Didn't know any store still sold new last gen consoles.
I miss my old Ps2, but I wouldn't spend $99 on one...
Also, just noticed the last time I went to Dollarama, they sell $2 PS2 games... Never heard of most of the titles, but just funny to see...

I suppose that's true and my local walmart said it was the last they will ever get.
hmm i think $99 is worth it, but then again i also have over 50 PS2 games and don't want to spend $200+ on a current gen system, plus Resident Evil 4 is on PS2

If bought new from Wal-mart and it is still factory sealed they would pretty much have to honor the warranty. I've still got my PS2 I bought the day they were released and it still works as good as it did that 1st day. I mostly play my old games on emulators though.

Oddly enough they are not listed on their website. your lucky when my first PS2 broke they just fixed it ahaha. I will never get a PS3 until sony brings back backward compatibility.Quote:
