I'm a bit confused about the revisions for the ultrasharp you guys mentioned... The monitor I linked (the U2713HM) is already a revision of the u2711, and has been out for about 2 weeks. Are you sure they're already coming with a new revision of that monitor so soon? Or were you thinking of the u2711?

All of your comments had me leaning towards the dell even more, until tephnos's comment about image retention and crosshatch pattern, which I'll look into a bit more now.
Thanks for the help so far, guys, more suggestions/criticisms are of course welcome, I'm not that big into monitors so I can sure use some good advice like the one I'm getting here smile.gif

No, supposedly the price has gone up for the US version, and there's some thought it may be because DELL knew they duffed up the initial versions, so sold them cheaper.

Check the thread on [H]ardforum about it, it's pretty bad. Turning a lot of people off with these problems. Especially image retention in LCDs. Just lol.

I've just read through that thread, and well... It's shocking frown.gif I'll keep an eye out to see how this situation evolves, since I don't HAVE to buy anytime soon (my old screens still work more or less fine), I guess I could wait a couple of weeks until Dell figures out what's wrong and puts out some better batches of monitors. For what it's worth though, I'll be buying the monitor over here in Europe. I don't know for sure where Dell's manufacturing is done, or even if it's all done in one place, but aren't issues like these usually batch-related? (ie: wouldn't there be a difference between a European monitor and an American one, assuming they're not made at the same place?)

Guess I'll follow up on it and give it a while either way, then...

I'm in Europe too, so I'd hope that they're just batch related issues.

That monitor is my last hope as I want a glossy most.

I guess that when I do get it, though, I can test it for problems straight away, and return it if there are any. That said, I wouln't even have thought that image retention would ever be a serious issue on ANY modern lcd, especially a Dell. Right now though, I'm just hoping that the people with issues are just a very vocal minority, and that there's thousands of people out there who are perfectly happy with their monitors smile.gif If/when I get it, I'll be sure to report back on wether mine had any issues!

I received mine yesterday, and immediately tested it for all the usual issues, along with the ones I read on [h]ard.

It pretty much scored perfectly across the board;

- There was no perceptible backlight bleeding (even looking through a camera, it was barely noticeable.)
- No stuck, bright or outright dead pixels anywhere.
- Tested it a bit for image retention, since that was a common issue on [h]ard, and had no issues at all.
- I looked for the mentioned crosshatch pattern across the monitor, but could not find it.
- The AG-coating was honestly really light. Dell seems to have done a really good job this time, compared to what I hear about previous monitors.

I only had my crappy phone-cam with me yesterday, so unfortunately decent pictures will have to wait for a bit, still, but I can already tell you guys that I'm really impressed with this monitor. I ran a round of my most commonly played games (Guild Wars 2, Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2 and some Battlefield 3) as well, and found it worked really smoothly for gaming as well.

I could fully recommend this monitor to anyone considering one, as far as I'm concerned it was definitely worth getting one of these over one of the Koreans.

What revision did you get?

Should be on the monitor near the serial number.

It's revision A00, so I'm assuming it's the first.
