business laptop?

I am looking to purchase a laptop for business use and the ocassional web browsing or word processing. No gaming and no random stuff... i want to keep my business and my casual use on seperate machines for security reasons (mainly cookies).

I dont want to spend the earth as i just formed my ltd company and the budget is very tight at the moment... revenue picks up dramatically over xmas but the point is theres no point in spending £400 when a £200 refurb will do just the same job.

I am currently looking at this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LENOVO-X200-LAPTOP-VPRO-CORE2DUO-2-4GHZ-320GB-4GB-WEBCAM-WIFI-WINDOWS-7-/110938868555?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item19d478cb4b (this is not an advert)

I want reliability, durability, inbuilt wireless, lots of ram and a good screen, a good keyboard is also essential and I am informed that you cant beat IBM's for this?

Bit worried about the mouse pointer dot in the middle of the keyboard...does it get in the way or is it a good thing?

Can I get better for the same cash?

Also what OS do you recommend if Windows 7 sucks for business/security? I remember trying to install linux on an old acer celeron about 10 years ago...it was a nightmare and sound never worked.
Many thanks.

Windows 7 Professional tends to do pretty well for security. I use Ultimate myself but to each his own. tongue.gif

As far as I can tell, that machine seems to fit what you need just about right. smile.gif Good find.

IBM no longer owns Lenovo, but Lenovo still makes some good business class machines. As far as the mouse pointer in the middle of the keyboard, it hs never been a problem to me.

Do you think I would have any trouble installing linux on it? I did this was back in 1999 on an Acer Travelmate and 75% of the laptop's drivers/hardware was unsupported. I also did this back in 2006 and had the same issue with Ubuntu.

I am looking at this now as it has a touchpad as well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IBM-Thinkpad-Lenovo-X300-Core-2-Duo-L7100-1-2Ghz-2GB-60GB-Complete-Laptop-/290773016139?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item43b36c1e4b However it seems slow with 2gb of ram and only 1.2ghz... the ram I can upgrade... but very slow corespeed for Windows hence the linux idea!
