Well my tablet has been used for about 3-4 hours a day almost everyday since december 28th and i'm sitting at 23GB.
alot of Netflix, Youtube and afew other streaming sites (All legal of course)
BUT that's just my tablet. I have this PC which i buy 2-3 steam games a month for and lots of HD youtube and my laptop which is a mobile theater lol.Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
in our house we probably us between 200-300 Gigs a month i think. With the way technology is going and more and more things ending up online in high definition Capping Data is not the way forward at all. It's archaic.

.Smartphones are getting Octacores and 3D games which take up hundreds of Megabytes per game/ demo, PC games are getting larger and lager (30GB for BF3 and MaxPayne 3) new consoles are coming out and they will surely have a greater part in online purchases (i see steam like platforms for both Sony and MS as possibilities) so there is more Data usage to contend with. Fact is every year people use more and more Data, soon Terabytes will become the standard monthy usage for family homes and these companies need to start catching up.
