EVGA's direct exhaust "blower type" fan?

Thread Starter
-How does the EVGA"s direct exhaust fan compare with cooling solutions from MSI or ASUS?
-Is cleaning the "blower type" fan as easy as spraying compressed air into it or is it more complicated?

Cleaning it its as easy as you described.

The advantages are that the air goes outside the case and doesnt dump heat in the case, keeping other components cooler. This is good if your case has bad airflow.

Asus and MSI have good solutions that have the dual fan config, that will dump air into the case. These solutions tend to cool the GPU very well, especially in well ventilated cases and are usually quieter (my asus DCII is dead silent). The blower style is loud and I personally dont like it (i had two blower GTX 480s in a small case).

How much louder would it be over the coolers from MSI/ASUS?a
post #4 of 8
I can't say that my blower is even loud. I don't hear it until I crank it up to 78%. It cools my 680 pretty well keeping it under 65*C.

the blower in my 260 isn't too loud and isn't even noticeable over my other fans unless I set it for 60% or higher which I only do in the summer when running some games or folding@home or boinc

I like that it blows the hot air straight out of the case

It really helps if you think you are going to end up in crossfire/sli. Both fans *don't have to compete with each other for cooler air.

I run 2 windforces in my case, both 670's max temp is 71c top 62c bottom so even cards that exhaust into the case stay cool

Only caveit is during gaming my 1.35v 2500k at 4.6ghz gets to 65c with a 212+ which is still good anyway
