Gtx 670 Vs hd 7970 - Page 3

This is true, nvidia does have better dual card support. So if you are looking to add another card and dont want to deal with any hassle this is a factor to think about. That being said AMD has been doing better on their drivers this gen. Also the 7970 preforms better than a 680 in higher resolutions where you would need the multiple cards. But if your going to stay at that resolution and want to dual gpu in the future then it does tip in nvidia's favor.

Get an aftermarket 7950, OC it to about 1100mhz and it should be as fast as the 7970ghz ed. Now that's some serious value imo.

Don't seem to be much of a comparison to me unless you are talking about getting a golden 7950 OC card.

While I could ran 2 7970 on 750W, it would be pushing the limit of my PSU and not as efficent as I could be, also with capacitor degradation it means I might not be able to support it in the future and need a new PSU sooner.

Alternative 2K PC is a 3570K+ SLI GTX 670 set up: max consumption about 528 W

On my Seasonic X750 Gold: 528/750= 70%
A CLX setup with 7970 would be 100 TDP higher at least: 628/750= 84%

An PSU is most efficent around 50% so the closer I get to 50% the more efficient it could be. Plus counting a 20-25% capacitor degradation, I wouldn't be able to run that 7970 CLX a year from now on my 750W and that's a big issue.

by a couple frames maybe(actually they are pretty much even from what I've read)...but costs a $100 more.

At current prices there is no reason to buy a 680 besides if you want to play Borderlands 2. It is the first game that actually does anything with it. Batman was the only other one and that was just some rustling papers here and there I think. With PhysX on the CPU you can get some of the benefits as well...so I don't know if paying a $100 more to get some extra particles in one game is worth it (though it is nice. I really like the explosion effects)

No offense, but really really REALLY old reviews are obsolete, look at something more realistic like this below especially as this is OCN we all overclock, http://hardocp.com/article/2012/08/23/galaxy_gtx_660_ti_gc_oc_vs_670_hd_7950/1

In terms of power I see your point, but I learnt from that along time ago, get yourself a 1200w or 1100w PSU and don't worry about it for a few years...

LOL this is no contest. The 7970 can't even keep up with the 660 Ti @ 2560x1600

So, 7970 owners... how's it feel to know you wasted $400? Eat it AMD fanbois. lachen.gif

No, physx had nothing to do with that test.
