Noisy ITX PSU - Fix or buy new?

Thread Starter
I recently built my Mom a new computer, and lately she has been complaining about the noise of the psu fan. It came with this case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811154091

Any easy ways to quiet it down and still keep it cool? If not she said she could buy a new one but I know nothing about ITX psu's, so any suggestions? It needs to be about 200-250w.

If you need any more info, just ask. smile.gif

This should do: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151090
But first open up the computer and make sure that nothing would be in the way of the SeaSonic's fan bulge.

Alternatively, this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104128

neither of those PSUs will fit in that case. it requires an SFX psu not a TFX.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151063

thats what you want.

also be sure its the PSU fan, i have that case also and it was loud because of the stock G530 celeron heatsink. i put a stock 3570k heatsink/fan on it and it is dead silent.

alternatively, since its only a 50 dollar case and the PSU is a throw away anyways (who cares about the warranty), you can attempt to save some money and try to replace the stock 80mm fan with a quieter one, but that might be tough since it needs a fan <25mm

those are buyable i believe, just like the 120mm versions

no doubt, the question is whether or not it will actually be any quieter then the stock one.

something like that would probably work
