Dell U2412M

Hey all ...

I hope I can get some help ...

My whole life I have just picked a screen and ran with it ... which is pretty bad and shameful ...

I am in the market for a GTX 680 and thought it was time to replace my current substitute monitor ...

I am a bit worried about the 8ms response time though ... Will it be a problem with me playing fast paced FPS games and watching hd movies ?

How is this monitor in general ?

All information would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards.

This question has been asked so many times i was like you once looking for a monitor u will either get recommended to the Korean monitors or u just got with the 24 but i still think you should save up for 1440p atleast cuz its so beautiful.... Nobody ever has problem with the refresh rate... It is what it is ppl even have 3x24s and game on that

If your priority is paced FPS games, then you should look into a 120Hz monitor.

If you play RPG or MMORPG games, a 60Hz monitor should do fine. Dell monitors are really great in design, appearance, and the picture isn't bad either. However, their customer service lacks a lot, as it is one of the worst.

I play BF3 and Skyrim on my U2412M. I see no ghosting at all. The game is smooth as silk. I do run Adaptive Vsync though. The U2412M is plenty fast for games...

I've been gaming on Dell Ultrasharps for years and have no complaints. First had a 2407wfp and now the U2412m. Both have been fantastic. That said, I am considering an upgrade to 120hz+.

Thanks for the feedback everyone ! ...

I would love toget a 120hz monitor but the cheapest I can find in my country that is in stock enters the market at around R6700 while the dell is a mere R2700 .... and seems I will be buying a 680 at the same time for R5800 ... I thought the dell's price was a blessing ...

How high is 8ms response time ... I am currently using a 5ms response time ... will it cause problems ?

Also ... How many games support 16:10 ... will there be problems with that kind of aspect ratio ?

I bought a U2412M in August. My old monitor was an HP w2207h, which is a TN with a 5ms response time. The U2412M has less ghosting than the supposedly faster TN did (which doesn't have overdrive to reduce ghosting where the Dell does). I don't play shooters - just RPGs and MMOs, but its very enjoyable for those. You really can't judge anything by the advertised GTG response time. Any expert review I've read praised the Dell where gaming was concerned.
