All compression fittings but maybe 2-3 90 degree fittings.

Will a DDC 355 handle all of that or would you upgrade to a d5 vario?

Both will be fine. It really comes down to how your planning to install it. Both come with fixed barbs but can be outfitted with different tops or reservoirs.

Get a mcp35x. I would not touch a D5 with that restriction.

Its the best right now if you are good with the price. D5 is still solid. Powered through: three gtx 470 fc blocks, cpu block, RX240, RS240, & RS120. I just didn't like the noise, though its subject. Arguments will go back and forth when comparing D5 vs ddc.

D5 is weaker than a 355. There's no point in getting a 355, since it's over 70 bucks and you have to get a top with it, making it MORE than a 35x. And then you don't get as good of a top nor do you get PWM. The choice is clear?

Dude, not everyone wants to drop $100 on a new pump. Yes, you do have a point about buying a new 355 or D5 new sans top. But, you can easily find a used D5 or DDC for half as much with a top. I know you're super into the 35x but its not the definitive and only solution. There are lots of other pumps out there too that do a really good job. When money is no concern, then go for it.

Had someone offer me a brand new 355 with a BP top-reservoir for $60s. So, I never rule out any other option. I actually try to answer the question first and then offer alternatives.

edit: I'll probably have a chance to test a 355 vs 35x in the next few days. Just curious to see how good the 35x is thumb.gif

Dude, OP is asking for the OP, not how you might personally feel? Anyways, 35x is 85 bucks, cheaper at different vendors too. Try buying a new 355 and adding a top to it lol.

THen ask yourself why?

As mentioned, a D5 is not an upgrade from a MCP355, other way round.

I would love to know where that general perception came from. The three things the D5 have going for it are quiet operation, lower pump temperature and higher flow rates in very low restriction loops.

The 355 is more powerful, therefore higher flow rates with most normal loops.
The 355 uses less power (18W to the D5's 24), so therefore heats the water less (although neither have a significant effect)

If your budget is tight, there's nothing wrong with a 355, D5 and a Jingway 1200 if you find them used for a low price. Personal choice would be 355. If you have the money, the 35x is the best one right now. I don't discredit a pump based on its new retail price. Used pumps are going for half of the 35x and they will still work. I didn't see any thermal difference between the ddc 3.2 vs D5. I did find the D5 noisier and harder to purge so its not my favorite.

In summary, pump budget ~$50: ddc 3.2, D5, Jingway 1200. ~$75-100, 35x,

Also, D5 are still very popular as you can dress them up to add the bling factor. I never really cared for this but lots of ppl have dumped a lot to trick them out. To each there own, cheers.gif
