$150 budget Z77 motherboard

Thread Starter
I need a Z77 motherboard for around $150

-Will be getting a 3570k to go with it. I overclock but I don't expect to get like 5ghz, just like 4.0-4.5
-Needs room for 2 7870s plus my PCI sound card. A space between the graphics cards would be nice (even if it's the PCI slot for my sound card)
-I would prefer it to be blue or black or anything that looks good with the blue LEDs on my fans and graphics card

Thanks. I narrowed it down to 3 choices (may have missed another choice, I'm not sure)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837 ASUS P8Z77-V LK
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138355 BIOSTAR TZ77XE3 (the PCI slot layout is perfect for me, though the colors and the sata ports are ugly)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293 ASRock Z77 Extreme4

So I'll go with the Asrock unless anyone has an objection.

So what you're looking for

  1. PCI Card
  2. 2 PCI-E slots (at least x8 x8)
  3. Good VRM setup

Here's some that popped up when I plugged in your requirements. VRM wise, The asus ones only have one side heatsinked, personally I'd aim for the Gigabyte UD3H. If I recall correctly, it has solid reviews on overclocking as well. However, your 7870s would cover the PCI slot on the UD3H correct?

If you do choose the Gigabyte, there's a combo deal with it, if you are getting your 3570k from a taxed source as well.

This is interesting, not sure about quality but it has better onboard sound. I had to dump my Xonar DG because no mATX boards had solid VRM setups AS WELL AS PCI slots. sad-smiley-002.gif Not your case though, since you're sticking with ATX sizes.

Good luck! I have a 3570k as well but I chose to go mATX (G1.Sniper M3 baby) to go with the Silverstone PS07B I had.

The PCI slot is right under the 2nd PCI-E slot so I wouldn't be able to fit my sound card. Thanks anyways though.

Yep, you're right, the Gigabyte wont work, shame because I really like Gigabyte.

@ microcenter
I got the i5 3570k for 189.99 along with the Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 for 80 bucks (make sure you purchase them as a combo to be able to get that deal)

good luck with your purchase and overclocking your chip. got mine to run at 4.3GHz within the first day with +0.0005v fixed voltage offset.
