3930k cpu water cool 40degrees too high?

Hi guys

Quick question
I have a Cosmos 2 case with a xspc ex360 rad, swiftech mcp 655 pump, apogee hd block and a bitspower 150 tank.
My setup is from the pump to the block to the rad to the reservoir to the pump.
Im getting about 40degrees in bios is this normal for a stock 3930k?
Asrock Extreme 9

Thanks

What are your ambient temperatures? If you're in a hot environment idle temperatures can be high but that looks abnormally high if your room is less than 85 degrees F.

My room does not hit higher than 27celcius.
Im going to try reseating the block today with MX-4 to see if it changes, i think i might have some air bubble under the block when i took it off to check coverage.

Once a block is removed from the TIM, you have to clean everything off and start over. There is no such thing as checking coverage on a mount until you are removing and cleaning it off to try a remount.

You might also check what your VID is at stock. You can try using CoreTemp to see it. I've noticed that Intel is sometimes over-zealous when setting VID for stability. Using a negative offset, my own 3930K was rock solid stable at 4.2GHz overclock using a little less than the 3.2GHz VID set by Intel.

yes....... 40c idle for a 3930K is fine. its not a quad core. its a 6 core 12 thread. you're fine. i get about 35-38c in bios at stock.

ps: the apogee block isnt good for cpu only loop due to the restriction. if you do a cpu only loop you should have gone for a high flow block like the ek supreme HF or the Heatkiller 3.0 nickel.

also it goes with out saying, did you bleed the loop?

by bleeding the loop you mean removing bubbles?
When i did the leak test i turned the pump on and off aswell as turning up the speed then back down.
I reseated the block with MX-4 thermal paste but same results.

Any other things i can try?
