Interesting. So they're starting at the $250+ mark again, we'll see how it fares for AMD this time.

The price of the 8320 and 8350 seems almost ridiculously close. I hope to see an 8 core in the $200 area quick :S

The FX8150 actually released for $280 on Newegg. They knew the faithful would pay those prices. Poor guys helpinghand.gif

I'm excited to see how well these perform and if they're worthy of those prices.

At $250 the 8 Core processors better outperform all the Core i5's and be on par with Core i7's....Which is something I absolutely doubt.

Still wishing AMD would have incorporated PCI-Express 3.0 into their new chipsets. I know it's pretty much a marketing gimmick right now but....It kills AMD options for me.

I hate that people compare the 8100 cpu's to i5's. compare them to i7's! because the 4100's will compare to i5's more relationally. granted the best AMD does worse at gaming than an i5, but gaming isnt the only realm of cpu performance. I honestly think the's chips will be near sandy-level ISP with the 5.5GHz mark replacing the 5GHz mark, but that may be wishful thinking.

FX-4300 FD4300WMHKBOX 4 3.8 GHz 4 GHz 4 MB 95 Watt $131.62 <-- okay, but isn't i3 better in single thread?

FX-6300 FD6300WMHKBOX 6 3.5 GHz 4.1 GHz 8 MB 95 Watt $175.77 <-- FX 6000 series never was competitive, only FX 8120/FX8150/FX4100 and FX 4170

FX-8320 FD8320FRHKBOX 8 3.5 GHz 4 GHz 8 MB 125 Watt $242.05 <-- what?

FX-8350 FD8350FRHKBOX 8 4 GHz 4.2 GHz 8 MB 125 Watt $253.06 <-- seriously now?

It won't be competitive til it drops about 20%. Intel chips are around $170 for i5 locked, $200-220 for unlocked.

I suspect incoming AMD pricecuts akin to the Radeon HD 7000 series' price cuts. Intel said that quad Haswell will be launching with a $184 or 195 boxed base model i5 (like the i5-3450, i5-2400) so I don't see how AMD puts out these prices.

see http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/28523-haswell-starts-from-$184 , http://www.eteknix.com/news/intel-haswell-quad-cores-start-at-195145/

edit: It would be different if it was a crazy new thing that beat out Intel in preview benches (Athlon 64) but this is a Bulldozer revision

You compare them by performance and price. Not by how many threads they have.

So no.

I have a feeling that AMD is prepared for eventual price drops, they are trying to make the best out of the launch.

Though I think $250 is the goal AMD should be shooting for, considering the Intel price points and large size(and thus high production costs) of the FX chips, 300mm^2.

I would have priced these lower on release! Just $25 would have increased sales 15% in my opinion! Using the knowledge I learned in business school!

I am always going to have an AMD Rig! They just need to lure me away from my very nice 1090T!
