2 6800s or 2 7600s - Page 4

A 6800 Ultra can play WoW on max settings at 1280x1024 and debateably at 1600x1200. Unless he is playing the game at very high resolutions he shouldn't be having any problems. If he is getting lag with that card it is most likely being caused by something else.

I may be a little behind, but a vmodded 7600 series card is an overclocking monster. I was able to get my 7600GS to 800Mhz on the core which was 400Mhz stock. I run it every day at 700Mhz. The GS is castrated, though, by the RAM speed. A 7600GT OC'd to 700Mhz would absolutely fly, though.

Yeah, no problems. I run HL2 at one notch below 1280x1024 (I'll run it to see exactly what that res is), HDR, reflect everything, everything on high. There's no stuttering or anything of the sort. I haven't installed DOOM3 on Vista and I don't remember what res I was running on that. The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion I run on 1024x768 with everything on max. I could run a higher resolution if I had more RAM (Vista+Oblivion is a RAM hog!).

Also, I'm running Vista with DX10 so DX9 games are somewhat slower than they would be running under XP, so your performance would probably be even better.

It seems that in certain games Vista decreases performance, in others it seems to increase performance. HL2 is about the same as was in XP, but I never played Oblivion in XP.

I don't think Oblivion is terribly video-card limited. I think it has a lot more to do with CPU and RAM. The X2 at 2.5Ghz definitely wouldn't be hurting it any.
