To my knowledge, yes. However I don't see any changes when gaming mode is selected. I check with AMD Overdrive and have tried Afterburner.

Are you sure that you've completely cleaned your old drivers up and have the latest AMD drivers?

WOW. Has anyone managed to point out the massive bottleneck his CPU is creating?

Well aren't you being a great band of help? Get lost. rolleyes.gif

OP, i suggest going for 12.7 Drivers. 12.8 seems to be causing a TON of problems!

EDIT: Your CPU could be bottlenecking your performance quite a bit, especially using a card like that. Truth be told i'd probably get your money back, grab a cheap 7870 and overclock the hell out of it, and grab a i5-2500k or something. You'll get much, much better performance overall!

12.8 drivers seem to be better people say. When I had my 7970 I didn't notice any issues with 12.8. Make sure you turn off flash hardware acceleration. That will give you bad performance and make your card run in 2d mode. You know when you play flash videos on websites, a little white box comes up that says "Enable flash hardware acceleration" checkbox. Make sure that is unchecked. If its not it can cause what you described here.

I rolled back to 12.7 drivers. seemed to help a bit. And....for whatever reason I cant OC the CPU any further without the comp instant rebooting. Wondering if my PSU is showing it's age?

For the moment I need to stick with AMD, so I should probably get the best performer they offer. So that would be what....980 or 1100T? Also a New/Bigger PSU.

Ignore the lack of OC ability on the CPU...........(cough...Noob Mistake)

So. The 965 Oc'd to 3995mhz and stock 7970 on 3Dmark 11.

3DMark Score P7521
Graphics Score 9078
Physics Score 5042
Combined Score 4860
Graphics Test 1 41.16 FPS
Graphics Test 2 45.28 FPS
Graphics Test 3 56.05 FPS
Graphics Test 4 26.94 FPS
Physics Test 1 6.01 FPS
Combined Test 22.61 FPS

Not epic. but an improvement none the less. I have a feeling I can push the cpu more. Only hits 30c on a Corsair a70.
