EK-FC bridge / link and 670 SLI

Thread Starter
I need to create this thread to retain my sanity.. and hopefully confirm this either way.

I've got 2 x 670 EVGA 4GB SC+. These now have "EK Full Cover VGA Block EK-FC670 GTX Acetal+Nickel CSQ" and "EK-FC670 GTX Backplate Black" on them, no problems. I then connected the provided EK-FC links that come with the block to both cards.

I've got the extra part needed to connect the actual cards; "EK-FC Bridge Dual Serial 2-Slot".

Now the problem is .. either I just cannot figure how to connect that last part (bridge on to the links) or the EK-FC link that comes with the blocks is not the EK-FC link that is required? I think it's the latter and I misunderstood the "link" that comes with the block as "EK-FC Link Blank Serial" which appears to be needed?

EK-FC Link comes with each block (acetal or plexi; depending on the water block version).
Just connect them with two screws like the manual say:
http://www.ekwb.com/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3831109856437.pdf

You don't need any blank serial links, only the EK-FC Bridge CSQ is needed. The old bridges are no good with CSQ series water blocks.

Thanks, so it seems I have the old, wrong bridge.

The store only had 1 of these bridges so I had no idea there were 2 different ones being sold. This is what mine looks like .. no circles.

http://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-bridge-dual-serial.html

Annoying but problem solved, thanks for your help.

Just a hint next time for this kind of product, maybe list more motherboards which are compatible to which size. For example Z77-V doesn't fit the dual one, yet most of the documentation about the triple one say it's there to fit 3 cards together - which I have no intention on doing.

So not only are shops selling your out-dated stuff (non-CSQ) which is a 3 letter difference and easily missed, but this size difference is a total PITA and a waste of money for me.

It's not that hard, buddy.

We have pictures posted up so you to help you select the appropriate EK-FC Bridge. With those you can check your board's PCIe layout and select the corresponding bridge:

You can shut off unused ports using our blank links (Serial or Parallel), depending on the type of bridge you use):

With my mobo - Z77-V .. which one do I use. I have both, one of them has to work? But I cannot get them to fit. I'm lost at the moment for not being able to figure this out?

So there's a freaking 3rd part that's it, is it? This one might finally fit my freaking board? I ******* hate these CSQ parts.

It is required for user to know which board he owns and to check the PCIe slots layout prior to making any purchase. Which board is that? Z77-V is not an ASUS motherboard? You mean P8Z77-V?

syqVUAS1OANPNmwz_500.jpg

Yes, this board needs DUAL Serial 3-Slot CSQ or DUAL Parallel 3-Slot CSQ bridge:

ek-fc_bridge_dual-3slot.jpg
Quote:
For use with motherboards with PCIe x16 slots 60.9mm (2.4") apart!

Don't be hating on EK here, it is the same with every manufacturer of FC water blocks. We have done all we can to ensure user has a visual confirmation prior to making a purchase. Send the bridge back for a replacement.

Thank you, so now to try and recoup some lost costs buying 3 different parts that didn't fit. It's for the buyer to know but that said, you could have made it easier - compatibility tab could show the boards applicable, correct.

All that said, thanks for the confirmation; I'll now buy the "DUAL Serial 3-Slot CSQ" for my Z77-V board (Asus P8Z77-V) and hopefully the saga ends.
