Yeah lol it would likely take a pretty overkill water setup to do 5.0. Maybe something like my water build. tongue.gif 4x140mm radiator for a single cpu and a gtx 670.

What voltage are you using for 4.6?

It looks like he's at 1.344 but CPU-Z doesn't always read out accurately.... or else the bios settings are incorrect.

yeh I've searched around a bit and most people on 5ghz are pushing 1.4 at a very minimum

For that high of overclock you would likely have to disable all power saving features and max out your long duration power limit and short duration power limit.

It is unlikely that the Hyper 212 can cool the chip adequately at that much voltage.

I have to put my chip to 1.52 to boot into widows from 4.9-5.3 with my 2500k. tongue.gif

What voltage are you using for 4.6?

1.24v for 4.6 around 77C at IBT, 1.285 for 4.8 around 89C IBT, prime95 usually generates much lower temps and gaming temps are even lower than that, so I'd assume 4.8Ghz is possible for daily use I just don't need it, 90% of my computer use is browsing the web and watching movies so I'd rather keep it cool and quiet. If you want more than 4.6Ghz out of your 3570K I'd suggest a Noctua/Phanteks 14 or H100.

Yeh its a fairly cheap cooler, pretty good for $50 tho! smile.gif I'll see how far I can push it, i've just been testing with prime, should I keep 80 degrees as the safe zone? or try stay even further below that?

Hehe I know. I am using the same cooler at the moment(but non evo) because I am 'in between water loops'. You can see it in my build log. Great cooler for the price that is for sure. Definitely stay below 80 degrees. I myself prefer to stay below 70. To be honest I am not 100% sure what the general consensus on that is. 70 or 80? I think its just personal preference.

Ok I'll do a little research, I have maxed out 76 degrees on my 4.5ghz clock on 1 of the cores, so I guess I've already broken that 70 barrier, I will try to keep it at 80 or below.

Thanks heaps for the help anyway man, much appreciated! I will post back my o/c speed once I find my max tongue.gif

Glad to help. biggrin.gif I don't have a ton of advice to offer around here but OCing on the 1155 socket is something I have a good experience with so it is fun when I actually get to help someone. biggrin.gif THe opportunity don't come too often for me.

I'll be waiting for your updates.

I've been messing around with my OC, I could push it to 4.8 on 1.34 vaults, but I was going slightly above 80 running prime test, so I've dropped it to 4.7 at 1.3 and i'm doing some testing... how low, can I go!
