Painting the wires before sleeving

This might seem like an odd question, but here it goes.

I am almost done painting a1k watt CM Silent Pro Gold.

Now I am going to sleeve it white with a tad of purple.

But mos of the time Lutro0 advises to use white wiring under white sleeving. Now my question is. Since I still have some paint left. Can I spread the wires and do one thin layer of paint over them? Just so they become white and sleeve then? This PSU even has the first two GPU cable bundles non modular. Which will make it near impossible to use new cables on.

Not sure buddy, but If you say it is semi modular, then there is a chance of getting paint on the PSU and it might mess up the paint work you've already worked so hard on(HARD ON heheh).

Anyways, you can do the painting if you use painters tape to cover the areas you want to protect from paint

OR

You can use tape on the wires before you cover the wire in sleeving. That way the coloured wires are hidden and won't show up under your sleeve.

OR

You can simply crimp new wires using coloured wires. This is the option that requires the most work, but will give the best result.

Hope I helped.

Painting the wires was an old solution for them as some paint allowed the cables to flex without chipping, however the whole thing was messy and a pain to work with. I would suggest cutting electrical tape lengthwise and using that or making new cables.

Won't that make the wires very thick?

One layer of paint is so small you wouldn't notice a huge difference in sleeving especially with mdpc sleeving.

The electric tape done lengthwise will not make it much thicker however the same problem as the paint arises you are changing the way the wire bends and the outer coating which both factor I to how easy or hard it will be to sleeve the wire.
