GTX 690 requires PCIe 3.0?

Working on Project, wondering if it's an exact requirement that the GTX 690, needs PCIe 3.0?
i suppose it does if the manufacturer says it does, throwin' the question out there.

It is backward compatible. I doubt it will saturate a PCIe 2.0 board anyway, but I haven't seen a test of it yet

It works on pci-e 2.0 boards as well.
