Yeah your rig isn't that bad. I have two 7770s on 3 monitors because I can't afford more. redface.gif

Anyone know the key differences between a 1155 socket motherboard or 2011 socket motherboard?

I know the 1155 is the minimum to run the GTX690 at its full speed. However the lure of new tech is always nice.

I want to know if a good 2011 socket motherboard will help to produce better results with the GTX690?

The 2011 socket is Intel's high end socket. It supports quad channel memory, Sandy Bridge-E, Xeon chips, and edit:"BETTER PCIE 3.0 support". If you are doing single card gaming, you probably won't see much difference between 1155 and 2011.

That's reassuring to hear.

However my intention is to hook up 2 GTX690's in SLi and run about 3-4 monitors for my setup.

Would a 2011 socket motherboard and SLi GTX690's produce significantly better performance than a 1155 socket motherboard with SLi GTX690's (if that's even possible)?

What's the difference between Sandy Bridge and Sandy Bridge E?

The 1155 socket also supports SLi and PCI-E 3.0 though right?

Thanks. (I'm trying to find the cheapest 2011 socket motherboard on www.price.com.hk)

It wont be cheap going the 2011 route, youre better off going for a ivy bridge 1155 with a 3570k or a 3770k

Actually I've settled on using the ASUS P8Z77 V PRO.
http://tw.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V_PROTHUNDERBOLT/

Use google translate.

What do you think?

Well I've actually stopped thinking about that route for about an hour now, but thanks.

I've actually gone on what I believe is a bit of a $ saving route.

I'm gonna use either the P8Z77-V LK. (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V_LK/) $1299 and a saving of $821
or the P8Z77M PRO (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77M_PRO/)
or the P8Z77-V DELUXE (http://tw.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V_DELUXE/)\

Which one would best suit my purposes on a budget?

I need it to run 2x GTX690's and my i5 2400

Thanks.
