Artisan Pads Not Built For Speed? - Page 2

To me it feels quite smooth, like it is made for speed. If there is any particles on the pad it is definitely noticeable. But looking very very very closely, you can observe there is some fine texture to it. Here are some extreme closeups if it helps.

Thanks. It's difficult to see with that pattern. Can you feel a texture at all? The control side of this has a slight texture, and the speed side feels completely smooth.

Smooth like a piece of glass no. There is a slight texture.

Or the hayate. I've tried a G700, DA, MX518, and Ikari laser and they all track flawlessly on it.

I've used CS Hyde's products before.
The problem with them is(was?) that #1 they wear down quite fast. And #2 the surface gets heated up when you move the mouse very fast. The heating up means the friction is greatly increased (until it cools down again).

My solution for this back then was to use fUnc Liquid. This totally took care of the problem. But I have not been able to find fUnc Liquid again. And also, it was insanely expensive.
I'm sure they're just using some industrial product that only costs like $5 a gallon. But they bottled it in tiny 1oz bottles and charged the hell out of it. I felt ripped off. I wish I could find a cheap source of whatever fUnc liquid was made of. That would solve my (and your) problem.
Because then you can just order CS Hyde's sheets that don't cost that much. And use the fUnc liquid thing on it. You can place the sheet on whatever surface you want to. You can even use your rug from the floor (I did this) and have a super soft surface and very low friction. All the way up there with Artisan Shiden-Kai.

You'd have to replace the sheet quite frequently. But they don't cost a fortune.
