No, I believe you can only do SLI with the 6,7,8 series of nvidia, they also have to be the same model number, for example, 6600 w/ 6600, 7800gt w/ 7800gt, the speeds don't have to match but its best they do as they will perform faster.

Same with crossfire. Thats ATI.

well theres a few rumor saying that u can do sli even if they'r not from the same compagny.. but you still will need ie: 2 x 6800 to be able to sli them =)
but my opinion is, dont buy sli atm its kind of useless, even if i do own 2 7800gt's ... its fun thats for sure but ... take the price of the 2 cards u want and buy the next gen one .. u should get same results

OK

SLi=Both card have to be the same model and brand, no matter what.

Crossfire=Both card can be different, different model and brand. I.e. a X1800 with a X1900(Opposite of SLi)

for SLI they don't have to be the same brand, any brand same model, I guess w/ crossfire you don't need the same models, I've learned something tonight but note, the speeds of the higher video card will go down to the lower end one, same with SLI

Thanks for pointing out that fallacy splat00n, I cant believe people still think they have to be the same brand. Anyways, mixed vendor support for SLI was added a LONG time ago, so you can use a pny and evga card in sli so long as they are the same model.
