You could easily get away with the ax850. 670s take very little power.

Thanks for the advice, repped!
I looked at a few of the calculators out there for power supplies and the verdict represents what luciddreamer has suggested here. According to http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp my whole system should only hit about 711w even if aggressively overclocked, which since this doubles as a school machine, won't be happening to that extreme.
So I'm probably going to order the AX850 and hold onto it until the MDPC comes, sheathe everything, and then replace the HX1050 with it.

Awesome, I actually wish I had something similar that I could modify to fit the two pull fans for my H100 if I were to fit them on the outside of the case. There seems to be very little available to conceal fans outside of cases, I saw these Lian Li covers on performance-pcs.com, but they seem to be out of stock:
Short of fabricating something out of aluminum, does anyone have any ideas as to how to conceal 2x120mm fans on the exterior of a case?
All the internal components are coming in today, though the UPS guy is usually later in the day. I will be sure to update tonight with pictures!

Hey guys, all the stuff came in yesterday and it took until late at night to get it all together. It was a great experience, everything booted up on the first try and there were very few obstacles to getting the machine functional.
Getting the bios was fairly quick. Finding XMP on the menu took me the longest time because it wasn't in the mobo book. I hadn't set up a RAID since the days of 3.5" drives, so that was a little confusing considering that the mobo disc didn't include an accessible driver. I ended up using another machine to put the drivers on a thumb drive and installed like that. Windows wouldn't touch the raid partition without the Asus-provided Raid drivers.
I'm a little concerned by the heat given off by my HX1050. The fan doesn't turn on until it's REALLY hot, so I'm going to investigate that.
While it's assembled and together, I still have stuff coming in! I have an AX850 on order for whenever Amazon receives more units, fan covers for the external pull element of the radiator, and MDPC coming in to sleeve that AX850! Wiring is sort of a mess, knowing that I was getting another power supply soon, I didn't stick to my normal OCD wiring.
I will update more as I get more parts!

I like this peg the c70 gives you to set the mobo on, it's where the center screw should go. It totally helped with the whole mobo shuffle and getting it situated on the posts:

in one word: AMAZING, in two: AMA-ZING
IMO the red RAM ruins the theme a bit but, still great looking. i think black RAM or maybe gold would have fitted better.
btw, could you explain ,ore about the XMP problem you had? i have G.skill ram which also features XMP and by g.skill's website my MoBo supports it but by the MoBo's manual / website it isn't supported.
also, aren't those filters have magnets?

Unfortunately G.skill makes those ripjaw kits in blue and red only. I could have gotten the gold/bronze color Corsair chips, but I really wanted to go with G.skill for the ram (I never hear anything bad about them as a company.) I don't really want to paint the heatsinks either, that'd cut down on the thermal properties. You can't see it in the last picture, but I led a red led rope through the inside rim of the case opening, so the whole inside is dimly red- the idea was to match the dim red of military flashlights- red is the hardest illumination to distinguish from a distance so a lot of military helicopter lighting etc uses it. So, yeah, the ram could have matched better, but gear > looks!
The filters do have magnets, but I screwed them in since the mounting gear on the case window is plastic.
The XMP thing: Basically the g.skill overclocked kits (1866+) will only show up as 1600 without being manually overclocked or having XMP turned on. My Asus motherboard supports XMP but they don't say it anywhere, and it is practically hidden in the BIOS. On the "AI Tweaker" menu in this bios, the first option is "AI Overclock Tuner" on which there's the option for "auto", "manual", and "xmp". Totally wasn't where I was looking for it, and it took a Google to figure it out.
I'm planning on digging more into the overclocking situation when I get time, but for now the "auto" settings have clocked the processor from 3.2 -> 3.8 and the highest I've seen the temps are briefly at 40~ c.

The filters do have magnets, but I screwed them in since the mounting gear on the case window is plastic.

well, if it fits the lighting then it is a great idea.
on the RAM, the problem is that i can't find the XMP even at the place you found it (where its supposed to be at).
btw, i am too still on the 3.8 turbo

looks great, I am thinking about ordering a white C70 and I am glad to have read your review. I went and previewed the green one and frys and was highly impressed by the build quality. I feel the same way about the window, it would look better if it was solid plastic (esp since its bigger than the stock 600T window). As for your push pull situation with the h100. You could always get thinner fans. I bought Yate Loon 20mm thick fans for my case because the clips were to thin for 25mm. They are nice units too, quiet but with plenty of airflow. 5mm x 2 might be the "half inch" that you need to make it work.

If that doesn't work, Scythe makes a couple of 12mm x 120mm fans that would definitely work.
