Maybe, maybe, but that's a question the designer should be asking. Is jumping important? Should I make jumping important? Does adding jumping to my game merely provide for the existence of jump puzzles or does it actually add to my game? If you can't even ask those basic questions and get sane answers, again, you shouldn't be working on game mechanics.

I mean, if you really want me to write out a few paragraphs on why jumping/crouching/crouch-jumping are comparable but I still favor possible (not mandatory) inclusion of the two former, but not the latter, I could do that, but my main argument is that it's easy to tell when you need to jump/crouch, tiny space that looks passable? crouch, hurdle/gap/whatever? jump, for crouch jumping you have to notice that any particular hurdle is a tiny bit taller than the rest, that a gap is a tiny bit wider, that's not intuitive, it's a try-fail adventure game method, and that's bad.

i do welcome main quest indicators though so atlest you know how to play the game as designed by the developer at the same time i do love the freedom of doing what you like in an open world and discovering hidden quests

I pity the fool who can't understand tucking in their leg while jumping to get over higher ledges. If someone is stupid enough to not understand this or never cross their mind then they deserve to be not able to finish the game! It is like those people that play Mario and never realize that when they hold jump they jump higher. I guess they should of made all the jumps the same distance and height for the special kids.
If the goal of the game is for everyone to be able to finish the game then sure make it as simple as possible. Might as well let the player finish the game by the pushing the start button. Ta-da game over, you win, that was fun right?

Exactly, watch athletes run the hurdles, do they keep their legs straight? Oh heck no! They get them in the air to clear those hurdles...

Video games are death to the imagination anyway, totally zombifying. The only people using their imagination are the developers and artists who have to draw it all in the first place, and even then most of it is derivative of either war films or fairy/folk tales.
If you want imagination, get a books and dice RPG or read a book.

Duke Nukem was run on nostalgia. That was the whole point of the game.

If you expected anything else from the game other than some over-hyped character who was praised like Chuck Norris or Mr. T and some actual story behind it, that's your own fault. tongue.gif
