Can someone give me an example of a game that's hard please?
I hate indicators or even hints that constantly tells you where to go or what to do in a video game.. I don't want any of those hints, I Just want a small hud me vs the game and I love to figure out where to go and what to do .. but today's game have huge arrows and indicators that keeps telling you what to do.. don't tell me go upstairs or pull the lever kill guard to get key and stuff.. I DON'T CARE ..let me explore the game don't let the game explore me lol thumb.gif

Final Fantasy (1)
Battle Toads
Super Ghouls N Ghosts
Contra
Wizards and Warrior Series.
Faxanadu

The very first Final Fantasy had some extremely ridiculously difficult points and Battle Toads has one of the hardest levels in gaming history. Super Ghouls N Ghosts has no save points, check points, or lives. In order to beat the game you have to play through the entire game, get a key at the end, all to do it again. You literally have to beat the game twice to actually beat the game. All the while not dying, because if you do you start over!

Very few people beat Contra without using the KONAMI code, it gets really hard towards the end. Then you have the Wizards and Warriors series on NES, another hard game to actually beat. Finally, I would say the easiest of them, Faxanadu, great game, more difficult than the average modern game.

I am the same way.

Heck, I think the HUD in ARMA II: Day Z is too much.

[<3]You said Faxanadu.[/<3]

Probably my favorite side scroller on NES. Spent hours hitting those one eyed hopping dudes outside the town for coinage to buy that Death spell. Then they added in all the ladders and opened up the game to the left and right +wing boots=one happy kid.

I loved that game growing up. Also found battle toads somewhat entertaining with a friend. Proudly never beat Contra without the code. The waterfall level or the snow boss loved to eat my lives. =)

On topic: This game looks like a lot of fun. One of my biggest turnoffs with Oblivion was the departure from the Morrowind way of doing things. I missed mark and recall and the taxi system for fast travel options. In Oblivion you just clicked on everything and *whoosh* away you went. Compass and arrows everywhere FTL. Street signs, NPC chatter, and maps FTW. Immersion please.

I own a GPS in real life. I don't need one in a game.

I don't mind the arrows/indicators as I go everywhere except where they point until I feel as if I have done everything extra thing possible. I don't want to prgress accidentally without having done everything I can.

I am not sure if it is lack of skill or age catching up to us....

biggrin.gif

I am at the point where I can start to blame age.

I did the same thing. No way of beating the gargoyle/dragon, the big ones, without it....believe me I tried! Then at the end of the game when you got the full plate armor, and your characters look changed. OMGFACESAUCE! What is this witchcraft in my NES with these advanced graphics!?

I also think it has the best box art of any game to this day!

How can you not look at that and see how awesome it is?
