But... http://www.overclock.net/t/1308637/anand-the-iphone-5-performance-preview/160
It's super-duper-durable.

scuffing, chipping, use whatever term you want. It didn't happen with the iphone 4. The screen is the same as any modern flagship smartphone in terms of scratch resistance. There seem to be a lot of 'defective' units.

Any comment on the phone showing up with scratches? Are you aware that MANY iphone 5's are scratched out of the box? Not a good sign...

Uh the correct term is scuffing. Chipping would be parts of it breaking off.

Really? Even 4000 units would be a very small amount at this point in time. Can you show me more than that? wink.gif

If they show up scratched then they can be returned.

For a company like Apple, you are targeting 99.99% defect free production. Anything short of that is an issue that I GUARANTEE someone is getting chewed out over.

So you don't see any issue with phones showing up scratched? You know a preorder that you finally received and if you want another you have to wait a few more weeks? I dunno, maybe I just have high standards. It really doesn't matter if the issue can be remedied, it's existence is enough to warrant attention.

Proof? That's impossible.

Of course I do. I also have high standards. But it's something that happens -- you'd be able to take it in and say you want a replacement, and then you should be able to continue using your iPhone until they call you in.

Foxconn is a six sigma company. Read up.

It's not something that happens to samsung, or previous iphones. This is a BIG issue, and if doubt Apple isn't looking at it seriously then you don't know a thing about your one true love in this world. Buying something only to have to return it immediately isn't acceptable. Period. Thats it. Spin it however you want, it's unacceptable.

Let's start looking at other "unacceptable" phones by your definition then:

Galaxy S3: Cracked plastic backs
http://www.igalaxys3.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s3-showing-up-manufacturing-defects/

HTC One X/S Chipping/paint issues with ANODIZED aluminium:
http://www.techradar.com/us/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/reported-design-flaws-hit-htc-one-s-and-one-x-handsets-1075640

Galaxy S2 Yellow screens after use and microphone/speaker problems:
http://www.knowyourmobile.com/blog/921534/samsung_galaxy_s2_woe_as_screen_defect_persists.html

I could probably easily find more phones with issues like that but I think this proves my point.

That's great, but that doesn't mean they they'll be able to meet those standards.

Uh yes it does. Apple isn't my "one true love" thanks, and I'm not spinning anything. Defects happen.

Maybe you all should leave grizzly alone. He has been desperately trying and trying to disprove the iPhone 5, but keeps getting shut down with a slap to his face. Give the guy a break.

No, unless JB'ing allows you to now. Is JB even available for iOS6?
