The number of pins on the port will tell you.

I just wanted to alleviate some panic should you have connected it to the single link port first. It would have worked but there would have been no 120hz.

Just to clarify guys my experience is that it is only the msi lightning 7970 that does not support 120hz, even my asus reference card supports dual link dvi, anyway i exchanged the msi for a vapor x and it works fine at 120hz

Yeah That is what i heard. Thats the main reason i waited on the vapor X instead of going lightning.
