The Steam Workshop website will allow you to browse, rate, and discuss thousands of community created add-ons and even install them directly to your game with just one click of the mouse. We are also going to try an experiment with the L4D2 Workshop that will allow content to appear in the L4D2 world even more seamlessly based on the community’s response.

All of this will also be available not just on the PC and Mac, but also for Linux users as well starting in the middle of next month and rolling out from there. We will have more details as we get closer to launch.

Can't wait for the official Linux version of Steam/Source games. biggrin.gif
Edit: Aw crap, it was posted. doh.gif

Meh, I'd rather it come to the first one. I didn't like the 2nd all that much, the two new zombies were terribly stupid, the FOV is garbage. Everything about the first just felt better

Wow, I have to completely disagree with you. How much Left 4 Dead do you play? I played a lot of both L4D1 and 2. To honest the first one is just too easy, they didn't add the new special infected just for varieties sake, they added them to address problems with balance in the first one. Basically in L4D1 you just all get into a corner and you are safe, no horde or special infected will touch you, except for tank obviously. That is why they added the charger, so if you all grouped together like that a charger would come in and knock down everyone as well as grab on you. The spitter also prevents this behavior, the spit pool means you can't just group up near a corner or some other barrier, you have to move, and you also have to be careful of the spitter's body in tight areas, like stairwells.

L4D2 is the much more polished game. It is the version to play.

Eh, I wasn't a player who cheated or looked for exploits to get around the game's system. The spitter I didn't mind at all, the Jockey and the Charger were just stupidly annoying.

As for my group of friends, the only reason we played L4D2 is because Valve went EA and dropped support for the game so fast. There's so reason to play the 2nd one unless it's for custom maps. The whole campaign for the 2nd one was absolute uninspired trash.

I'm excited about the ease of installing and integrating custom maps now. This is awesome news but I am disappointed that Killing Floor has this before L4D2.
