PC Bong Help.

Thread Starter
Ok so I finally completed my bong build this weekend. (Pics to come) but I am having low flow issues through the shower head. My pump: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006M6MTMI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 which I thought should have handled the job. Bong is ~5ft high and goes pump to Danger Den CDX CPU Block to shower head. Any help or ideas?

No bong experts in the house anymore? Is a shower head the best way to get droplets of water? Or should I use something else?

Did you drill out the showerhead? Is it the $2 one? (Those work best)
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-25ecodZ5yc1v/R-202192848/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=showerhead&storeId=10051

Make sure your hose isn't kinked..I use a Danner mag5.It does 250 gph @ 5 feet
Your pump should pump that high..theoretically.
Dirty Duck said a mag3 is plenty..

I've never built a bong cooler, but it seems a but weak from where I'm looking. It only has a maximum head pressure of 6'3" and at 6' it will only push out 26GPH.

If I was going to build a bong cooler, especially one that is going to be upwards of 5 or more feet tall, I'd be looking for something that can lift the water a bit higher and thus more GPH at a given height.

You take a drill and widen the hole in the middle of the showerhead out to about the ID of your tubing...may have to do it in increments.
some just have a little pop-in limiter..
I think your pump may not have enough head pressure..my pump pumps 10x the water at that height more than yours.
Always look at the head pressure specs.

Has anyone correlated bong height to effective cooling? I think I am just going to shorten the bong and tubing. I know I want it tall as that allows more air to absorb heat from the water droplets but I cannot afford to buy another pump right now with all my other projects. Plus PVC is cheaper then pump so I am going to trim it down and report back.

Yeah..I had to shorten mine, too :lachen.gif: I still think you need a stronger pump, though.3-4' of pipe should cool effectively.Be sure and get all the shavings out :wheee.gif:

Before you go all crazy with the drilling, Mine had an orifice on the inlet that limited to the 1gpm limit they are sold as. So i drilled that, If that doesn't work and you know its not being restricted before the shower head then you should start doing some very tiny holes.
