Help a Blue ray noob please!!

Don't laugh...

I'm going to get my first blue ray player... tongue.gif

I never really needed one until now but the Avengers movie has pushed me over the edge. Now that im looking at them though im seeing a lot of features we might want.

Right now im looking at this one..

http://www.hhgregg.com/samsung-3d-wi-fi-internet-blu-ray-player/item/BDE5900

I like the wifi and the fact that we can stream movies. it would be nice to be able to use a wireless mouse and keyboard as well. That model doesn't support java but i don't think that will matter to much..Or will it? YOU TELL ME!!!

What do you guys think, im looking at spending about 150 bucks. Seems like some good players in that price range. I also have a Samsung TV and im really partial to using a Samsung player, unless you guys can convert me.

So let me know what you guys think!!

Thanks a lot!!

I have always heard that the PS3 makes a very good Blu-ray player.

Honestly, yea. I was in the same situation a year ago, and I just picked up a PS3 (well, it was free with my new TV). While they are a bit more expensive, the video and audio quality is great, and it can also do other things (netflix, etc.).

Don't pay extra for a PS3 if you don't want to play console games. You can get a really nice blu-ray player for under $150 these days, while a PS3 is still $250. If you want to buy from H.H. Greg then I would suggest the Sony BDPS590. It has wifi, can stream movies, has got great reviews, and can be had for $130. I would suggest checking out blu-ray.com for reviews of both hardware and movies.

If you aren't tied to H.H. Greg, Amazon has that same model for $108 with free shipping. You will not find a better blu-ray player right now for less.

I love Panasonic blu ray players http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMP-BDT220-Integrated-Blu-ray-Player/product-reviews/B00752R4PK/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1. And if you ever plan on getting a surround sound system don't forget to enable bit stream for the Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio. Oh and I almost forgot if you have a tv that support 24p enable. GL!
