Too true. Give a man a fish and he'll be fed for a day, teach him to fish and he'll be fed for life or whatever. But definitely need a mix of both. As for sucking on the American tit, look at what the government spends the money on instead. I'd rather they boosted spending in nasa, education, and aid and severely drop the military spending budget and aid to developed nations like israel.

Everyone's so close, but I think very few figured it out.. government's the problem, not the solution. Long video, perhaps a bit extreme in his views against patents, but herego. First 10 minutes are mostly fluff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQeaVBIMnoI

Government is far from "the problem"

Either way people have derailed this thread far to much.

I'd be happy if all patents and trademarks only lasted 18 years. It would protect most products, yet force innovation. The problem is with "Mickey Mouse" patents, which Disney has constantly bribed politicians to keep pushing out their trademarks to now well beyond 75 years. That is insane.

The problem is not somehow "greedy" corporations wasting money suing each other. This waste of money is caused by a system that does not logically work any longer. Corporations are doing what they see is the best move for themselves, not the best move for the economy as a whole. Those two should be the same, ideally. But now, these corporations are finding it is easier to shut down competition than compete.

I'm pretty sure even the base Corolla is available with most, if not all, of the same interior niceties as any of the more expensive cars.
