As the title states I'm looking for advice on components for a new computer build minus the computer case. I'll be using it mainly for school using it mainly for rendering projects (a lot of Sketchup and adobe Photoshop). I already have a case for it and the extra storage but am needing suggestions on the primary components: motherboard, CPU, GPU, PSU, main drive preferably SSD. Budget I'd like to stay under $1k if possible. Thanks in advance for all inputs.

Here's two (2) sim~build around your budget, the first build is still on sandy bridge, but utilizing the i7 2600K OC/HT/igp3000 cpu's which will benefit photoshop mostly, since sketchup does not utlize HT still, the Quad-core processing power for both application will very much has well benefits, on the other hand, I use still a fermi videocard using openGL 4.1, which is well advance for the requirement for both apps which is 2.0 & 1.5 respectively, and since its a gtx 570, the processing power of this videocard will most likely benefit the sketchUp. The i7 2600K + gtx 570 is a full ATX intel build with a future SLI in mind, its the opposite of the 2nd build which is mainly micro-ATX with a cost savings of only $200+, but made entirely of new architecture ivy bridge and a new videocard HD 7870 equivalent to gtx 570 at least, using openGL 4.2 w/c is advance already for both application, the processor i5 3350P is Quad-core cpu, which is still beneficial lacking the hyperthread/igp/OC feature, hence the value cost. In any way you want it sim~build are there to help you trim down your choice and have an idea. Hope it helps cpu Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I72600K ~ $ 285 f/s

you might also want to look in to getting 12-16gb of ram, what i do with the extra ram is turn it into a harddrive using ramdisk+ and loaded photoshop etc. on there, it gives you much faster than ssd speeds, or can be used as a scratch disk for photoshop cache files wile your editing, and ram is fairly cheap.
and while a good video card helps in those progrms, i dont think he needs something as powerful as a 570 or 7870 for simple programs, so maybe go with something cheaper and get a bigger ssd, 240gb+ or faster cpu or cooling

Thanks for the suggestions. I was wondering if I needed the new GPU but from the looks it's probably best to get extra ram from the money saved.
