Hi Guys, I could use some help setting up a moderate OC for benchmarking my Rig named "Mr. Big" I have included a BIOS template with default settings that I am running now.
This Build is a fresh install that I just finished last weekend. I did setup AHCI for the hard drives for a bit more zing in the mix. I will be adding an additional Seagate 500 Gig drive for a Page file/Storage drive.
I have only OCed this system to maybe 2.7Ghz in the past Now that I have the Mugen2 cooler installed and a fan blowing cool air at the southbridge and the Graphics card, heat will move better. There are two huge case fans moving air as well in the thermaltake Tsunami case. I added the System specs to my signature but I do not see them yet. I guess the mods have to approve the additions. I am looking for advice on getting a moderate OC to 2.9 - 3.3 GHz Keeping in mind that it is still summer and the unforseen instances of household temperature. I may keep the C2/C2E State support enabled (as well as the other throttling settings) If I do turn them off I will re-enable after my overclock sessions for safety reasons.
I will be benchmarking with 3DMark06 and other free benchmarks that are listed in this guide from Maximum PC ->http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/how_properly_benchmark_your_pc
I did have some trouble installing 3DMark06 due to installing system infor 0411 first and then 3DMark06 (that did not work at all) I finally used a registry cleaner to remove the remnants of system info and 3DMark06. I then re-installed both programs.
I would also like some advice on using these forums, like for others telling me I should post in the newcommers thread first then give my BIOS settings for OC help or things like that you know....(while I am writing this there is some lag in the words appearing on the screen (is this normal?)
UPDATE: 3DMark06 will not run due to a system info error (updated to sysinfor 411 already that may be what broke it ?) It was running before the 411 update. Also Cinebench has a error on the open GL tests. It could be a graphics card problem or driver problem too. I will try cleaning and reinstalling of 3dmark06 and graphics driver updating to latest from FM approved driver of 197 (ya 197 its like old:))
Got cinebench to run will post scores tonight.
Guess I should shut the pie hole about now and let the magic happen:)
Thanks in advance Guys.
