H80 Passive cooling?

Ok just wanting a little feed back or suggestions.

I was thinking I want to mount my H80 watercooler to the Top/Rear in my antec 300 gaming case...

now should I have the side case fan120mm, top 140mm and 2 120mm front fans sucking in forcing air thru the radiator or blowing out to force air in via the radiator???

Going to try both anyway but was wondering if anyone has tried this type of setup before ? trying now and also after I get my new fans biggrin.gif

thoughts?

Honestly if you have even one fan in your case it makes more sense to connect that directly to the radiator as this will give better performance then going passive + case fans. Cases just have to many holes for air to escape and not go through the radiator.

Well then all we can say is test it? We don't know your ambient, wiring, clutter, free space inside case for air to move etc..

Yeah it should be an interesting test mate. Post back with the results. I have the antec 920 (same as a H70/H80) and I have 2 fans on 12v in push pull. I would be interested as the silence would be fantastic. thumb.gif

You can reduce that noise by a good margin if you use a shroud. Also even a super low rpm fan like say 500-700rpm will still be much better then nothing.

Ok well lets get started on 1st results

1st I've reversed my fans so that they are all sucking in. removed my stock H80 fans and now im booted @ 3.6ghz....

idle temp is 37-38'c.... now ran prime95 for a few mins and the temp spiked to high 50's'c and so I ended it abruptly! EEEKK
Silent as though..

If i reverse the fan direction again so it draws air in via the H80,
also have 2x sliverstone silent 900rpm fans which ill try after that.

Well rnd 2 is over with the fans reversed and its basically the same results rolleyes.gif
And I'm testing it now with the low RPM siverstone silent fans and @ 3.6ghz the idle temp is 32'c and under prime95 load its a steady 54'c biggrin.gif still very quiet but! I'm use to 4.0ghz so I will not even bother testing it with the siverstone's due to the extra Mhz and vcore voltage...

Well this filled in my night nicely everybody and I hope that this help anyone else in the future smile.gif
2nd day on the forums so so REP would be sweet wink.gif

Till the next thread o7
